IWE is a shared memory tool for individuals and AI agents, built around a Markdown knowledge graph. It organizes notes such as specifications, plans, and decisions within a project into a folder of interlinked Markdown documents, which can be read and edited on their own or used as a memory source for AI agents such as Claude and Codex. It offers four ways to use it: a native Mac app, editor LSP support (Neovim, Helix, VS Code, Zed), a command-line tool, and MCP-based agent memory. The CLI and Mac app do not include an AI model themselves and are used together with an AI agent you already have. Notes are stored in a local folder and can be backed up, synced, or placed under git, with no IWE cloud account required. The project is open source and licensed under the Apache License 2.0.
