Flowise is an open-source project that provides a visual drag-and-drop UI for building custom large language model flows and AI agents.
Purpose Build LLM application flows by dragging and dropping, combining third-party node integrations to build AI agents without extensive coding.
Main capabilities Supports visually building AI agents. The project is a single monorepo containing three modules: server (Node backend, providing API logic), ui (React frontend), components (third-party node integrations). There is also api-documentation, with swagger-ui API documentation automatically generated by express.
Installation and usage Before installing, you need to download and install NodeJS >= 20.0.0. Global installation: npm install -g flowise Start: npx flowise start Access:http://localhost:3000
Docker deployment: After cloning the project, enter the docker folder in the root directory, copy .env.example to the same location and rename it to .env, run docker compose up -d; to stop the container use docker compose stop. Build the image locally: docker build --no-cache -t flowise .; run the image: docker run -d --name flowise -p 3000:3000 flowise; stop the image: docker stop flowise.
Source code development: First install PNPM (npm i -g pnpm), clone the repository (git clone https://github.com/FlowiseAI/Flowise.git),进入目录(cd Flowise), install all module dependencies (pnpm install), build the code (pnpm build). If Exit code 134 (JavaScript heap out of memory) occurs during the build, you need to increase the Node.js heap memory and rerun: on macOS/Linux/Git Bash use export NODE_OPTIONS="--max-old-space-size=4096"; on Windows PowerShell use $env:NODE_OPTIONS="--max-old-space-size=4096"; on Windows CMD use set NODE_OPTIONS=--max-old-space-size=4096. Then run pnpm build. Start the application: pnpm start, access http://localhost:3000。
Development build: Create .env in packages/ui and specify VITE_PORT (refer to .env.example); create .env in packages/server and specify PORT (refer to .env.example); run pnpm dev, and code changes will automatically reload at http://localhost:8080 .
Environment variables Supports configuring the instance through environment variables, which can be specified in the .env file in the packages/server folder. For more information, see the Flowise documentation.
Deployment Supports self-hosted deployment to existing infrastructure, and supports multiple deployment platforms, including Railway, Northflank, Render, HuggingFace Spaces, Elestio, Sealos, RepoCloud. You can also use Flowise Cloud to get started quickly.
