Kagan is a plugin for OpenCode whose core goal is to turn AI coding agent work into supervised tasks on a kanban board.
Purpose and main capabilities: Each task is an OpenCode session running in an isolated git worktree. Tasks flow across the board as Backlog → In Progress → Review → Done, with a gate at each transition: intake before the agent runs, review before user approval, and merge only after user confirmation. The agent does not operate on the user's checkout, but instead works in its own worktree on a kagan/<slug> branch; the reviewer agent submits ranked findings against the original task, and the task does not move to Done until the user has ranked each finding and chosen whether and where to merge.
Usage: Requires OpenCode 1.17.13 or newer (see engines.opencode in package.json). It can be installed globally so that Kagan is available in any project, or a local clone can be added to the two OpenCode configuration files. Open the board via /kagan in the command palette, the kagan palette command, or <leader>k (the leader key defaults to ctrl+x). In any regular OpenCode session, run /kagan-task to create board tasks conversationally, which is suitable for planning multiple tickets at once without opening the board creation dialog for each ticket. Options can be passed as an array-of-array, or open /kagan-settings from the project; see the configuration reference for details.
Update mechanism: For global npm installations, Kagan checks npm for newer stable versions and displays available versions in the board footer. Press u, run /kagan-update, or use the command palette to view and confirm an update; Kagan then installs the exact release version and requires restarting OpenCode. Local, file, and development installations are never auto-updated.
Documentation is in docs/, and a Quickstart is provided.
Limitations: The required minimum OpenCode version is 1.17.13; local, file, and development installations do not support automatic updates.
