What is Keras
Keras is an open-source deep learning framework designed for humans, focusing on ease of use, flexibility, and efficiency. Keras supports TensorFlow、JAX and PyTorch and other backends, allowing developers to seamlessly switch frameworks. Keras provides a concise API and a rich collection of pretrained models, suitable for various needs from beginners to advanced developers. Keras features a modular design, high-performance computing, and clear debugging tools, helping to rapidly develop and deploy deep learning models. Keras can easily handle tasks such as image classification, natural language processing, and generative models, making it a powerful tool for deep learning development.
Main features of Keras
-
Cross-framework compatibility: Supports multiple backends such as TensorFlow, JAX, and PyTorch, and models can seamlessly switch between different frameworks.
-
Unified API: The Keras API always remains consistent, reducing the learning cost.
-
Modular design: Model components can be freely combined like LEGO bricks, making reuse and extension convenient.
-
High-performance computing: Leverages the acceleration capabilities of JAX to improve model training efficiency.
-
Easy to debug: Provides clear error messages and debugging tools, making the development process smoother.
-
Rapid prototyping: It only takes a few minutes from idea to experimental validation, suitable for rapid iteration.
-
Rich pretrained models: Provides pretrained models such as VGG, ResNet, and BERT, facilitating transfer learning.
-
Flexible model building methods: Supports Sequential and Functional APIs, suitable for model building from simple to complex.
-
One-stop training and evaluation: Provides a complete workflow for compilation, training, evaluation, and prediction.
-
Production-grade deployment: Models can be exported to formats such as TensorFlow Lite and ONNX, supporting multi-platform deployment.
How to use Keras
- Install Keras: Keras is an independent deep learning framework and can be installed via pip. If you are using TensorFlow 2.x, Keras is already integrated into it and can be used directly
tensorflow.keras。 - Import the necessary modules: In a Python script or Jupyter Notebook, import the relevant Keras modules, including model building modules (such as
SequentialandFunctional API), layer modules (such asDense、Conv2D, etc.) and other auxiliary modules (such ascallbacksandpreprocessing)。 - Build a model
- Choose a modeling approach: Keras provides two main modeling approaches:
-
Sequential API: Suitable for building simple linear stacked models. By adding layers one by one to the
Sequentialmodel to build the network. -
Functional API: Suitable for building complex models, such as multi-input multi-output models, residual networks, etc. Build the model by defining inputs and outputs.
-
- Define the model structure: According to the task requirements, choose appropriate layer types (such as fully connected layers, convolutional layers, pooling layers, etc.) to build the model.
- Choose a modeling approach: Keras provides two main modeling approaches:
- Compile the model: Before training the model, the training process needs to be configured. This includes selecting an optimizer (such as Adam, SGD, etc.), a loss function (such as cross-entropy loss, mean squared error, etc.), and evaluation metrics (such as accuracy, recall, etc.). Compiling the model is the process of applying the configuration to the model.
- Prepare data: Loading and preprocessing data is an important step in training a model. The data needs to be converted into a format suitable for model input, and preprocessing operations such as normalization and standardization need to be performed.
- Train the model: Use the
fitmethod to train the model. Parameters such as training data, validation data, training epochs, and batch size need to be specified. During training, the model gradually adjusts weights based on the loss function and optimizer to minimize the loss. - Evaluate the model: After training is complete, use the test set to evaluate the model's performance. Evaluation metrics usually include accuracy, recall, F1 score, etc. By evaluating the model, understand its performance on unseen data.
- Use the model for prediction: The trained model is used to make predictions on new data. Preprocess the new data into the same format as the training data, and use the model's
predictmethod to make predictions. - Save and load the model: To facilitate subsequent use, save the trained model to disk. Keras provides the functionality to save and load models, supporting saving information such as the model structure, weights, and training configuration.
