Immersive Translate is a bilingual translation tool that makes reading foreign-language content easier. It displays the original text and the translation simultaneously on a webpage, preserving the reading context and helping users read foreign-language news, papers, and study materials.
Main capabilities:
- Bilingual webpage translation: supports full-page, text-selection, mouse-hover, and input-box translation.
- Document translation: supports PDF, EPUB, TXT, HTML, and subtitle files. PDF translation can preserve the original layout for easy side-by-side reading.
- Video and meeting subtitles: supports bilingual subtitles for online videos and subtitle translation for some meeting platforms.
- Image and comic translation: supports webpage images, local images, and some comic websites.
- Multiple translation services: choose a translation engine as needed or connect a custom API; some services support glossaries, domain settings, and context-aware translation.
How to use: install the extension, open the webpage you need to read, and click translate to view the bilingual content. The availability of different translation services and advanced features is subject to the descriptions within the product.
Data and security: translation requests are transmitted over encrypted channels. Within the scope of applicable official translation services, translated content is not used for AI model training. Content processing and retention rules vary by feature and selected service; features involving temporary file retention will explain the processing purpose and deletion rules. Project description: This repository is used to publish Release versions of the Immersive Translate extension and to collect and follow up on user feedback via GitHub Issues. Immersive Translate is not open-source software, and this repository does not contain the source code of Immersive Translate. The old open-source project of Immersive Translate was archived on January 17, 2023.
