About this tool

AIPM is an open-source package manager and skill registry for AI agents, positioned to solve the problem of the lack of a unified package management solution in the AI field. It provides a CLI tool and an online registry to help users find, install, publish, and manage reusable Agent Skills.

Purpose The core purpose of AIPM is to manage AI agent skills. Skills are reusable task workflows that can be installed into Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor. AIPM gives skills version numbers, allowing them to be pinned to a specific version, while prompts are saved as snapshots rather than versioned.

Main capabilities

  • Skill discovery and installation: Find skills in the registry, view the description of what each skill does, and then install it into Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor with a single command.
  • Version management: Skills have version numbers and can be pinned to install an exact version.
  • Project initialization: Create project files and choose the target tool (Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor). Initialization can also be skipped by using the --no-init parameter to install in one go without generating project files.
  • Directory writing: Install skills into the corresponding tool's folder, namely .claude/skills, .agents/skills, or .cursor/skills.
  • Publishing skills: Register an account, reserve a package name, generate a token, and publish a new version.
  • Prompt versioning: Keep prompts and instructions in Git instead of losing them in chat history.
  • Team sharing: Provide team members with a unified source of prompts and track prompts in the repository via aipm add; safely share MCP configuration instructions without publishing tokens or private values.

How to use

  1. Install the CLI.
  2. Check the installation with aipm --version and aipm doctor.
  3. Initialize the project: Create project files and choose Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor. If skipping this step, add --no-init to the next command to install in one go without generating project files.
  4. Install an exact skill version into the corresponding tool's folder (.claude/skills, .agents/skills, or .cursor/skills).

Examples of skills visible in the registry include: youtube-thumbnail-design published by inference.sh (YouTube thumbnail design, covering dimensions, contrast rules, mobile preview optimization, safe areas, text placement, facial expression psychology, and A/B testing); discover-azure-skills published by Microsoft (search the Azure skills catalog, match skill metadata based on Azure tasks, and recommend installable agent skills); entra-agent-id published by Microsoft (configure Microsoft Entra Agent Identity Blueprints, BlueprintPrincipals, and per-instance Agent Identities via Microsoft Graph, and configure OAuth 2.0 token exchange, including the Microsoft Entra SDK).

Applicable scenarios

  • Install reusable task workflow skills for Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor.
  • Unify and share prompts and MCP configurations across a team.
  • Bring prompts and instructions into Git for version management.
  • Publish and distribute self-built agent skills.
  • Compare and choose agent configuration file formats such as AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, Cursor rules, SKILL.md, and MCP configuration.

Limitations The materials do not provide specific information such as AIPM's fees, pricing, platform support scope, skill count limits, or performance results. The actual availability of skills depends on the skills already published in the registry and their compatibility with the target tool.
