About this tool

Kura is a local EVM wallet designed specifically for AI agents, primarily running on Apple Silicon Macs (macOS 11 and above). Its core purpose is to enable AI such as Claude to initiate payment requests when it needs to access paid internet resources (the x402 protocol), with payments completed after a human approves via password. Kura is not a wallet for everyday human use (such as MetaMask), nor is it a cloud SaaS; all keys are stored locally and never leave this computer.

In terms of main capabilities, Kura supports two chains: Base (an Ethereum L2 with extremely low fees) and Arc (Circle L1), using mainnet by default, and users can switch to testnet (Base Sepolia) in settings for practice. On Base, the fees for x402 payments are paid by the facilitator, so payments can be completed even if the ETH balance is 0; only direct transfers require a small amount of ETH as gas. On Arc, gas is also paid in USDC, so holding only USDC is enough to complete transfers and x402 payments. Kura has a built-in MCP server and can connect to MCP applications such as Claude Desktop and Claude Code, with no need to clone source code or install Rust. The tools available to AI include: get_wallet_status, get_balances, get_history (read-only), request_payment (payment request, triggers the app approval popup), x402_fetch (handles 402 payments and retrieves the URL/API response), x402_resubmit (resubmits the payment proof for a wallet direct on-chain payment), lookup_agent (queries ERC-8004 agent identity, on-chain read-only).

In terms of usage, users can download the DMG installer from the Releases page and drag Kura into the Applications folder. On first run, create a wallet and set a password of at least 8 characters; the password is used to encrypt the stored key (~/.jigap/wallet.enc). Then a 12-word mnemonic will be displayed; this is the sole proof of asset ownership and needs to be properly backed up. Kura resides in the menu bar; click the keyhole icon to expand the window, where you can view balances, history, settings, and more. To use the AI payment feature, click "AI Connect" in the app to complete the connection with Claude Desktop or Claude Code. After connecting, when AI initiates a payment request, Kura will pop up a window showing the amount and recipient address. The payment is executed after the user enters the password to approve it; if not approved within 5 minutes, it is automatically rejected.

Applicable scenarios include: AI making per-use payments for paid APIs such as search and image generation via the x402 protocol; AI automatically initiating payment requests when it needs to access paid resources, with human approval. Kura also provides a CLI tool, kura, which shares core logic with the MCP server and can be used for command-line operations.

In terms of limitations, Kura currently only supports Apple Silicon Macs (macOS 11 and above), and it is still an early version. It is recommended to keep only small amounts of funds you can afford to lose on mainnet, and to use testnet first if you are unfamiliar with it. Security mechanisms include: password-encrypted storage (Argon2id + AES-256-GCM), per-transaction and daily limits (default 5 USDC per transaction, 20 USDC per day), emergency lock, trusted addresses and autonomous payment conditions (must simultaneously satisfy session unlock, small-amount limit, and trusted address), and multi-account support. Wallet data is stored in the ~/.jigap directory; uninstalling the app will not delete the wallet, and the directory must be manually deleted to completely remove it. Kura uses the MIT license, the interface supports Korean and English, and the MCP server provides English only.
