Cua is a shared computer platform for teams and their AI agents, with the core idea of letting teams and computer-using agents work side by side on the same hardware. It runs on the user's own hardware, supports bring-your-own compute, and includes the open-source Cua Driver and Lume.
In terms of use, Cua provides a shared Space for each team and agent. A Space is a complete desktop that agents can use, and also a virtual machine or container that users can watch, and it can run on the user's Mac, their own machine, or their own cloud. Users can turn idle computers into unlimited desktops, enabling "teleport any app" and "multiplayer collaboration with agents."
Key capabilities include: The Teleport feature can package an app's session (open tabs, profiles, login state) into a session bundle and move it from a Mac into a Space. Nothing is read before the user approves, and sensitive items require Touch ID. Before opening an app, the Space verifies the session bundle's SHA-256. On Space images, each session bundle is also end-to-end sealed to that Space's own key, so even Cua's relay cannot read it. RCDP is Cua's remote desktop protocol, streaming each Space to the user and handling input separately from the display, so users and each agent have their own cursor on the same desktop. Users can step in to operate it themselves at any time, then hand it back to the agent. Users can start Spaces on a Mac, their own machine, or their own cloud, and view them all in one list, with each Space streamed as a live desktop, achieving low latency via QUIC when the machines are on the same network or can directly reach each other. macOS Spaces are virtual machines built locally using Lume, and Linux images are also supported. Each Space starts with permissions already granted and tools installed, so agents do not get stuck on permission dialogs. Claude Code, Codex, or other agents can be connected via Cua MCP.
In terms of usage, you can get started without an account. You can skip login, and Spaces on a Mac or machines added via address work without an account. Logging in to cua.ai allows you to access machines via relay, share Spaces, or run Spaces in your own cloud. A Mac with macOS 26 or later is required, macOS Spaces are virtual machines that require Apple Silicon, and Linux Spaces Run as a container via Docker or Podman. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Cline, Kiro, and OpenClaw connect through the Cua MCP server, and the installer can set it up automatically. Within a Space, agents operate desktop applications through the Cua Driver.
Use cases include: team-shared machines, turning idle computers into desktops, letting agents use native desktop applications, and multiple people and multiple agents collaborating on the same desktop.
Limitations and notes: Cua Spaces uses the FSL-1.1-MIT source-available license, which allows use and modification but not for competing products, and each release converts to MIT two years after publication. Cua Driver and Lume are MIT licensed. The relay terminates TLS, so it can read the desktop streams, input, and files passing through, but does not store them; Teleport session bundles on Space images are end-to-end sealed, and the relay only forwards ciphertext. Anonymous usage data is enabled by default, including features used, Space type, duration, and error categories, as well as application and operating system versions and a random installation ID not linked to an account. It never includes screen contents, file names, URLs, cookies, login information, Teleport session bundle contents, or prompts, and IP-based location lookup is disabled. It can be turned off via a toggle in the welcome screen or settings, cua telemetry off, or DO_NOT_TRACK=1.
Pricing: The free version includes connecting a Space on each computer, sharing a Space with specified people, up to 2 live sessions per month, and 20 hours of relay. Pro is $12 per month or $120 per year, and includes all free version features, up to 5 live sessions per month and 200 hours of relay, expiring share links, and 90-day audit history. Teams is $30 per seat per month or $300 per seat per year, for 2 to 100 seats, starting at $60 per month, and includes all Pro features, with each seat adding 5 live sessions and 200 hours of relay to a shared team pool, shared team machines, and device approval. SSO and audit export are coming soon and are not yet included.
