About this tool

Scrapeless MCP Server is the official Model Context Protocol (MCP) server launched by Scrapeless, positioned as an integration layer that enables LLMs, AI Agents, and AI applications to interact with web pages in real time. It is based on the open MCP standard and can connect models such as ChatGPT and Claude, as well as tools such as Cursor and Windsurf, with a variety of external capabilities.

In terms of use cases, this server is aimed at scenarios for building AI research assistants, coding copilots, or autonomous web agents, providing dynamic context and real-world data, and emphasizing "not being blocked."

Its main capabilities include: Google service integration (Search, Trends); browser automation for page-level navigation and interaction; scraping dynamic, JS-heavy sites and exporting them as HTML, Markdown, or screenshots; crawling an entire website by following links and capturing each page in multiple formats; AI Scraper, which can create AI Scraper tasks for ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overview, Grok, and Alexa.

Typical examples: using Scrapeless MCP Browser, Claude can perform web navigation, clicks, scrolling, and scraping through conversational commands, and preview the results of web interactions through a real-time session; using this browser service to automatically access Cloudflare pages, then extract and return the page content in Markdown format after completion; using the Universal API to scrape JavaScript-rendered content, export it as Markdown, and write it to a local text.md file; using MCP Server to search Google for the keyword "web scraping," obtain the top 10 search results (including titles, links, and summaries), and write them to a serp.text file. In addition, in Cursor, requests such as "Search StackOverflow for a solution to this error" and "Scrape the HTML from this page" can be made, and Scrapeless handles them in the background.

In terms of usage, you first need to obtain Scrapeless Key: Log in to the Scrapeless Dashboard (a free trial is available), click Setting on the left, select API Key Management, click Create API Key, and finally click the created API Key to copy it. Then configure it in the MCP client. The server supports two transport modes: Stdio (local execution) and Streamable HTTP (hosted API mode); optional parameters can be set via environment variables (Stdio) or HTTP headers (Streamable HTTP) to customize browser session behavior. When integrating with Claude Desktop, open Claude Desktop, go to Settings → Tools → MCP Servers, click Add MCP Server, paste the above Stdio or Streamable HTTP configuration, save, and enable the server. When integrating with the Cursor IDE, press Cmd + Shift + P and search for Configure MCP Servers, add the Scrapeless MCP configuration in the above format, save the file, and restart Cursor if needed. The official documentation lists Supported MCP Tools.

Use cases and limitations: Suitable for workflows that require real-time web data, such as AI research assistants, coding copilots, and autonomous web agents. Security best practices emphasize that scraped or extracted web content is untrusted by default, and improper handling may lead to prompt injection or other security vulnerabilities. Specifically, avoid: passing raw scraped content directly into LLM prompts (raw HTML, JavaScript, or user-generated text may contain hidden injection payloads); allowing users to specify arbitrary URLs or CSS selectors without validation; storing unfiltered scraped content for later prompt use. It is recommended to sanitize and validate all extracted content, stripping or escaping harmful tags and scripts before use in downstream logic or AI models; prefer structured extraction, such as scrape_html, scrape_markdown, or browser_get_text with known safe selectors, to extract only trusted content; when scraping dynamically generated pages, apply domain or selector allowlists to restrict the data flow to known trusted sources; log and monitor all outbound requests made through the browser or scraping tools, especially when handling sensitive data, tokens, or internal network accessquestions.
