About this tool

Purpose

Superset is a "supercharged" IDE and agent orchestration workbench, used to unify multiple CLI coding agents to run in the same workspace. It is not itself a coding agent, but rather a scheduling, isolation, review, and merge layer around agents such as Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode.

Main capabilities

  • Connect any agent: Native support for Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and any CLI-based coding agent; each task can choose a different agent, while the workspace and review process remain unchanged.
  • Parallel scaling: Can launch 100+ agents simultaneously, advancing tasks such as feature development, bug fixes, and refactoring in parallel, with an overview showing which are working, which are blocked, and which are waiting for you.
  • Change isolation: Each agent runs in an independent Git worktree and branch, so they do not overwrite each other's files; conflicts may still occur during merging, and you must review and merge them.
  • Scheduled tasks: Turn repetitive work into scheduled agents, such as issue triage, changelog drafts, and dependency upgrades, which run automatically and open PRs for your review.
  • Run workspaces anywhere: Any machine can be added as a host, so workspaces keep running after your laptop sleeps and can be viewed remotely at any time.
  • Terminal-driven: Everything is scriptable—generate workspaces and agents via CLI, connect to CI with the SDK, or let agents drive Superset via MCP.
  • One-click open in any IDE: Supports VS Code, Cursor, Xcode, JetBrains IDEs, or any terminal, opening the worktree directly where you need it.
  • Mobile: iPhone and iPad apps (App Store) let you check agent status and review their diffs while on the go.

How to use

  • Get started from the official website, free to start, no credit card required.
  • The desktop app runs on macOS, with an experimental Linux AppImage; Windows is not yet available.
  • In addition to the desktop app, a CLI, TypeScript SDK, and MCP server are also provided, allowing you to drive it from scripts, the terminal, and other agents.
  • Use your existing agent subscriptions and API keys; Superset does not proxy any API calls or lock workflowsto a single vendor.
  • Ask a coding agent to install the Superset CLI.

Privacy and authorization

  • Code remains local by default, with clear controls over connected services; repositories, worktrees, terminal output, and agent sessions all stay on your machine, and cloud sync involves only account and organization metadata.
  • The source code is publicly available on GitHub under the Elastic License 2.0 (ELv2), so you can inspect, audit, and contribute code; you can self-host it (subject to the license terms), but it is not an OSI-approved open source license.
  • Superset is unrelated to the business intelligence tool Apache Superset.

Use cases

Suitable for developers and teams that need to run large numbers of coding agents in parallel across multiple branches, for feature development, bug fixes, refactoring, scheduled maintenance tasks (issue triage, changelogs, dependency upgrades), and more, completing monitoring, review, and merging within a unified window.

Limitations

  • Details such as the specific limits of the free tier and differences in support for each agent and platform are not yet provided on the official page.
  • Workspace isolation is based on Git worktrees, but change conflicts may still occur during merging.
  • Windows is not yet available.
  • It is not an open source license, and self-hosting is subject to the terms of ELv2.
