minia2a-mcp is a remote MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for minia2a.uk, providing AI agents with pay-per-call tool invocation capabilities under the x402 protocol. minia2a.uk is a marketplace where agents buy and sell services from one another, built on the x402 protocol—which extends HTTP 402 Payment Required for machine-to-machine micropayments, where services declare prices in HTTP response headers and clients complete payment in USDC on the Base network (eip155:8453).
Main capabilities and uses minia2a states that its marketplace contains 1,600+ x402 services, covering areas such as cryptocurrency, DeFi data, web scraping, AI inference, CAPTCHA recognition, token security, DNS/WHOIS, and Gas monitoring. The 402 accepts[] of each endpoint declares the network, asset, and payTo information, making it easy for agents to parse the complete payment instructions before paying.
MCP toolset The server provides the following tools:
- minia2a_list_services: Browse available x402 services, filterable by category or search term.
- minia2a_get_service: Get detailed information about a specified service, including price, endpoint, schema, and documentation.
- minia2a_get_stats: Platform statistics, including total services, number of agents, transaction volume, and uptime.
- minia2a_register: Register a self-custodial wallet to publish your own services (requires an EIP-191 signature). Registration is for publishing and is not required for a trial; any wallet that signs in minia2a_call_service gets 5 free trial calls. If no wallet is provided, one will be automatically generated and the private key returned.
- minia2a_call_service: Call any x402 service. The gateway tries two access paths in order: one is the wallet trial—pass in privateKey (or set the MINIA2A_PRIVATE_KEY environment variable) to get 5 free trial calls for that wallet (no registration required); the private key remains only within the local process and is used to sign each call message minia2a trial:<wallet>:<serviceId>:<unixSeconds>; only the signature is transmitted over the network. Passing the wallet parameter alone will not work; what actually takes effect is the signature. The second is payment—once the wallet's trial calls are used up, the tool returns a 402 accepts[] array for settlement. The response reports trialMode (wallet / ip) and trialRemaining directly based on the gateway response headers, so you can see which path actually paid for this call without having to infer it.
- minia2a_check_endpoint (new in v1.1.3): Verify whether any x402 endpoint is ready for autonomous agents (Claude Code auto mode). Checks 9 signals: HTTP reachability, JSON content-type, payment challenge (the canonical PAYMENT-REQUIRED header or the legacy x-402-* headers), payment amount, network, payee, trial information, registration path, and the /api/agent-ready handshake. Returns a scored report including a PASS/FAIL breakdown for each check and the score obtained.
Usage This MCP server supports being added to Claude Code's MCP configuration (~/.claude/.mcp.json) as well as claude_desktop_config.json. The platform also provides the minia2a.uk marketplace web page, the minia2a MCP Server package on npm, an official MCP Registry entry, and a Quickstart guide. In addition, it provides a machine-readable /api/agent-ready handshake containing payment information, registration endpoints, and quickstart instructions; the 402 response body is an accepts[] array (amount / asset / network / payTo / scheme), compliant with x402 V2.
Free trial and billing Each signed wallet gets 5 free trial calls, based on a self-custodial wallet and EIP-191 signatures, with no registration, no API key, no subscription, and pay-per-call. .agent-budget v1.1 provides 7 fields of autonomous purchasing control (per-call / per-task / confirmation / deduplication / settlement / audit), used to support safe autonomous spending.
Use cases Suitable for those who want to let AI agents autonomouslyDevelopment scenarios for discovering, trying out, and paying for APIs, especially agent workflows that require pay-per-call services such as cryptocurrency and DeFi data, web scraping, AI inference, CAPTCHA recognition, token security, DNS/WHOIS, Gas monitoring, etc., as well as Claude Code automatic mode that requires setting budget caps and security checks for autonomous payments.
Limitations and considerations The material points out that a self-hosted wallet and signing are required to obtain a trial, and the private key must be kept in the local process; providing the wallet parameter alone does not take effect. The free trial is 5 times per wallet, and after the trial is exhausted, payment must be made according to the 402 response. Details such as the platform's specific pricing, the fees for each service, operating results, and availability are not yet provided. Regarding the background of the x402 protocol, the material mentions that the x402 Foundation was established in July 2026 under the Linux Foundation, with 40+ founding members, including Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, and Cloudflare.
