Vibe Island

Vibe Island is a native app for macOS that turns the notch area at the top of the Mac screen into a unified control panel for 30 AI coding agents. It supports a total of 30 CLI agents, including Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, OpenCode, Droid, Kiro, Kimi, and more, allowing you to view the status of each session in real time, approve or deny tool permissions directly through a graphical interface in the notch panel, answer questions posed by agents, preview plans rendered in Markdown, and jump precisely back to the corresponding terminal tab and split pane (covering iTerm2, Ghostty, Warp, Terminal.app, WezTerm, Kitty, Zellij, VS Code/Cursor, and more than 20 other terminals). The app is built with native Swift rather than Electron, is made for Apple Silicon, typically uses less than 100MB of memory, uses nearly zero CPU when idle, and runs as a non-activating overlay that does not steal focus from your editor or terminal. It completes configuration automatically on first launch, with zero manual setup; all data stays on the local Mac, with no cloud, no account, and no telemetry. It supports agent monitoring on remote servers and also offers 8-bit sound effects, quota viewing, multi-device license migration, and other features. According to the official page, the product is a one-time purchase with no subscription.

About this tool

Vibe Island is a native app designed specifically for macOS, with its core positioning being to turn the Mac's notch area (in the form of Dynamic Island) into a unified monitoring and control panel for AI coding agents. Officially, it is described as "30 AI coding agents, one notch, all at a glance."

Purpose

When using multiple command-line AI coding agents, users often need to switch frequently between terminals, editors, and different sessions, which easily interrupts their workflow. Vibe Island lets agents continue running in the background while users can monitor status, make authorization decisions, and jump back to the corresponding terminal through the notch panel, thereby staying focused.

Main capabilities

  • Unified multi-agent panel: Supports 30 AI coding agents, including Claude Code, Codex, ZCode, Gemini CLI, Antigravity CLI, Cursor, Trae, OpenCode, MiMoCode, Droid, Devin, Qoder, QoderWork, Qwen, QwenWork, Grok Build, Kimi Code, DeepSeek, DeepSeek Harness, Mistral Vibe, Copilot, CodeBuddy, WorkBuddy, Kiro, Hermes, Amp, Pi Agent, Oh My Pi, Gajae Code, and Kimi. All sessions are centralized in one notch panel, allowing multiple agents to run simultaneously and be viewed at a glance.
  • GUI permission approval and Q&A: When Claude Code requests permission to run a tool, the notch panel expands and displays Allow and Deny buttons, so you can approve or deny without leaving your editor. This mechanism also applies to AskUserQuestion prompts—click an option to answer, avoiding context switching.
  • Precise terminal jumping: Supports iTerm2, Terminal.app, Ghostty, Warp, WezTerm, Kitty, Alacritty, Hyper, Zed, Zellij, cmux, Conductor, Termius, as well as the integrated terminals of VS Code / Cursor / Windsurf / Antigravity. Precise jumping (including split panes and tmux sessions) appliesIn iTerm2, Ghostty, Terminal.app, Warp, WezTerm, Kitty, Zellij, and IDE terminals; other terminals provide app activation and best-effort tab matching. Click a session to bring the corresponding terminal app to the front.
  • Plan preview: Preview plans with full Markdown rendering before approval, and give feedback directly in the notch panel.
  • 8-bit sound effects: 8-bit synthesized sound effects for every event, with support for importing custom sound packs or making your own.
  • Quota viewing: See the remaining quota for Claude, Codex, Kimi, GLM, and DeepSeek at a glance, with real-time resets and no extra setup.
  • Remote monitoring: Run agents on remote servers and monitor them from your Mac, with one-click deployment, automatic reconnection, and multiple servers.

Technical Features and Privacy

Vibe Island is a native Swift app built for Apple Silicon, typically using less than 100MB of memory, with near-zero CPU when idle. The notch panel runs as a non-activating overlay and will not steal focus from your editor or terminal. All communication between Vibe Island and the CLI tools happens locally on your Mac, and no data is sent to any server; session content, tool names, and terminal metadata never leave your machine. The app has no cloud, no account, and no telemetry.

How to Use

On first launch, Vibe Island automatically configures each supported CLI tool, all locally—no API keys, no cloud account, and no manual editing required. After installation, just launch it and start coding. It can also be installed via Homebrew:brew install --cask vibe-island, this command installs the latest version to /Applications and completes zero-configuration setup on first launch, updates are handled automatically via brew upgrade . On Macs with a built-in notch, the panel is located in the notch area; on external displays or older Macs without a notch, it appears as a compact floating bar centered at the top of the screen.

License

The official page states a one-time purchase, no-subscription model. The license can be migrated with the user: when switching to a new Mac, enter the same license key on the new machine to register. The only restriction is simultaneous use—a 1-Mac license runs on one Mac at a time, while a 2-Mac license runs on two. If you still have access to the old Mac, you can first click Deactivate in Vibe Island settings on the old machine, then activate on the new machine. If you do not renew, the app can still be used permanently with all existing features; renewal is optional and only for getting a new year of new features and updates.

Use Cases

Suitable for macOS developers who use multiple AI coding agents at the same time and frequently switch between the terminal and editor, especially users who need to centrally handle permission approvals, answer agent questions, jump to and locate sessions, and monitor remote agent runs.

Limitations

The app is a Mac app, and the page indicates it must be opened on a Mac for download. Among terminal supports, precise jumping (including split panes and tmux) applies only to some terminals; other terminals use app activation and best-effort tab matching. Other specific limitations are not yet provided.
