Purpose
TANSHIP Template is a TanStack Start SaaS boilerplate and template aimed at indie developers and small teams. It provides a complete, deployable codebase rather than just a UI skin. The goal is to let developers configure their own keys and then skip repetitive integration work, focusing directly on the product features themselves.
The project mainly targets four groups: indie hackers (who can validate ideas without spending weeks building infrastructure), small teams (who can launch an MVP on a type-safe, clearly modular codebase), Chinese developers targeting global markets (who can choose their own payment provider, use URL-based language routing, and run on Cloudflare's global edge nodes), and developers using AI-assisted programming (the AGENTS.md file provides project-specific context and conventions for AI coding agents).
Main Capabilities
Five Implemented Systems
-
Authentication: Uses Better Auth, supporting email/password login, Google OAuth, and session management. Registration triggers email verification, login creates a managed session through Better Auth's cookie handling, and all authenticated requests validate the session. It includes password hashing, login failure rate limiting at the database layer, mandatory email verification for new accounts, and password reset using time-limited one-time tokens.
-
Payments: Provides three adapters—Creem, Stripe, and PayPal—switched through a single provider toggle (the environment variable PAYMENT_PROVIDER). Checkout, webhook, and portal routes bind to the selected provider. Payment status comes from signature-verified, idempotent webhooks; subscriptions sync with the provider across states such as active, trialing, past-due, and paused, and the UI does not grant access on its own. Since PayPal has no customer portal, the built-in billing page can manage subscriptions (canceling auto-renewal and handling restoration). Test keys and sandbox mode are available.
-
Database: Drizzle ORM based on Cloudflare D1, with 18 ready-made tables covering users, sessions, subscriptions, orders, newsletter subscriptions, contact messages, and more. Migrations can be generated and applied locally (Miniflare) and remotely through the same D1 binding. User-uploaded assets are stored in Cloudflare R2 as native Worker bindings, including avatar upload and asset service routing examples; local development uses disk storage to simulate R2.
-
Email: Uses Resend transactional email templates, localized through translation files, including welcome, verification, password reset, and receipt emails. Newsletter subscriptions use double opt-in, with D1 as the source of truth, one-time confirmation tokens that expire in 24 hours and are stored hashed, and a separate token flow for unsubscribing. The contact us form includes Cloudflare Turnstile verification and rate limiting on both IP and email dimensions.
-
AI workflows: Includes 8 AI modules—summarization, translation, slogan generation, text-to-speech, image description, two image generation views, and image editing. The core workflows directly call Cloudflare Workers AI and are metered and charged against in-app credits, so they demonstrate real execution and real charging; the remaining tool interfaces are designed as extensible demos. The complete credits system handles metering, rate limiting, and cross-plan charging, with each plan having a demo quota. Each module centralizes its logic in one place, and wiring in a new provider only requires replacing the module's service boundary call, while the page, metering, and UI keep working.
Themes and Internationalization
Provides 52 light and dark theme presets, plus a visual customizer that can control colors, five levels of border radius, light/dark/system modes, and sidebar, floating, and inline sidebar variants (including collapsible offcanvas and icon modes), all driven by CSS variables. Custom themes are persisted per user and reapplied after refresh. For languages, English URLs have no prefix, the URL is the only source of locale, there are no language cookies, no browser sniffing, and no flash of the wrong language; all visible strings (including accessibility labels and SEO metadata) come from translation files, and adding a language is a data change rather than a code refactor. Also includes a command palette and dynamic OG images.
Content System
Delivered with a versioned changelog page and 36 guides covering authentication, payments, databases, email, AI, and deployment, etc., explaining project-specific configuration and deployment steps. This content ships with the codebase and can become the documentation hub for your own product.
How to Use
After purchase, the full source code is delivered via private repository invitation, under a one-time payment perpetual license, including email support and future template updates. You need to configure your own keys and providers (authentication, payments, email, AI, etc.). The project is natively built for Cloudflare Workers, with D1 and R2 directlybound, Workers AI uses native bindings, and Turnstile protects forms with a widget key plus server-side verification. The guides explain project-specific configuration and deployment steps in detail, and local development can run against the same D1 database.
Use Cases
- Independent developers quickly validating SaaS ideas
- Small teams launching an MVP
- Builders targeting a global market who need multiple payment options and URL-based language routing
- Projects that want to deploy on Cloudflare's global edge nodes and avoid an adaptation layer
Limitations
The project is intentionally focused: it does not include multi-tenancy, RBAC, or an admin backend, and only provides the core systems needed by independent developers and small teams to launch. In the AI section, the core workflows currently run on Workers AI, while the remaining tool UIs are interfaces that can be extended directly and require connecting your own provider, credentials, and calls. In addition, the project description mentions 750+ automated checks, but the specific checks and verification methods are not yet provided in the materials.
