Purpose: To provide automatic version control and checkpoint management for Claude Code projects, helping developers track changes, create instant snapshots, and restore previous states while coding with Claude, avoiding loss of work.
Main capabilities: Automatic change detection, continuously monitoring file changes across the entire project with no additional configuration required; simply select the project folder to begin. One-click checkpoints, creating a snapshot of the project state before making risky changes, with each checkpoint capturing all files and their contents. Visual diff viewer, comparing additions, modifications, and deletions between checkpoints. Code time travel, restoring the project to any previous checkpoint with one click. Complete project backup, with each checkpoint containing a full backup of all project files. Claude integration, seamlessly integrating with Claude Desktop through the MCP protocol and automatically creating checkpoints when tasks are completed.
How to use: Select a project folder in the Checkpoints app; use Claude Code as usual, and changes will be tracked automatically; checkpoints are automatically created when tasks are completed; restore any previous state with one click when needed. The MCP server starts automatically on port 8765, and Claude Desktop connects instantly when the project is opened. Claude can list checkpoints, view diffs, and restore previous states through MCP commands.
Use cases: Development using Claude Code, coding work that requires frequent experimentation or rollback, and scenarios where automatic backup and version protection are desired for projects.
Limitations: The materials do not provide specific pricing details and only state that it is free to use; the system requirements are macOS 13.5+ and Windows; information such as compatibility with other platforms, storage usage, and the maximum number of checkpoints is not yet provided.
