Acheron MCP Server is an MCP server used to bridge context between Claude Chat, Code, and Cowork, with its core function being to provide shared persistent memory across interfaces. You can save a decision in Chat, retrieve it in Cowork, and search for it in Code; all data runs locally and offline, with zero configuration.
Purpose: To solve the problem of context not being shared between Claude's different usage interfaces, allowing decisions, notes, and other information generated in conversations to be reused across different interfaces.
Main capabilities:
- Cross-interface shared memory: Connects Chat, Code, Cowork, and Dispatch.
- Local storage: Context is saved in a local SQLite database (~/.acheron/bridge.db), with full-text search support.
- Offline and privacy: No cloud, no network calls, no telemetry, and data never leaves the local machine.
- Six tools: All prefixed with bridge_.
- Natural language invocation: The tool descriptions are written so that Claude will automatically use these tools.
How to use: It is recommended to use Claude Desktop to connect all interfaces—Chat, Code, Cowork, and Dispatch. This is the recommended setup for achieving complete cross-interface bridging. Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Developer → Edit Config, then add the configuration and restart Claude Desktop. If you only need to use Acheron in Claude Code (terminal / IDE), Node.js 20+ is required. better-sqlite3 may require native build tools. When using it, simply communicate in natural language:
- Save context—say "remember this", "save this decision", "note that we chose X": for example, "Remember: we're using Next.js App Router for the acme-site project."
- Search context—say "what did I decide about...", "find my notes on...": for example, "What did we decide about the authentication approach?"
- Browse context—say "show me my preferences", "list all decisions for this project": for example, "Show me everything saved for acme-site."
Applicable scenarios: Development or collaboration workflows that need to keep context consistent across Claude's different interfaces; scenarios where you want to save and retrieve conversation decisions, notes, and preferences locally and offline.
Limitations and notes:
- Requires Node.js 20+ (when using Claude Code separately).
- better-sqlite3 may require native build tools: on macOS use xcode-select --install; on Linux use sudo apt install build-essential; on Windows use Visual Studio Build Tools.
- For database issues, you can delete ~/.acheron/bridge.db, and Acheron will recreate it on the next startup.
