Purpose
harmony-next.skills is an offline skill library for HarmonyOS NEXT aimed at AI coding assistants, mainly for use with Gemini CLI, Claude Code, Codex, and other AI coding assistants. Its goal is to provide AI assistants locally with the reference materials and workflows needed for HarmonyOS NEXT development, so that assistants can answer HarmonyOS development questions without an internet connection.
Main Capabilities
- Provides local HarmonyOS reference declarations for API 12–26.
- Covers ArkTS/ArkUI, NDK, and DevEco Studio-related content.
- Supports emulator automation, debugging, and release workflows.
- Provides a reproducible local toolchain.
- Provides UI/UX audit assistance and smoke test templates, such as the empty-ability-app smoke fixture (located at references/templates/empty-ability-app).
- Keyword entry points include: packet capture diagnostics, DevEco emulator automation, filesystem skill, Codex plugin.
How to Use
After installation, users can directly ask the AI assistant HarmonyOS development questions. The assistant will look up local materials in the order SKILL.md → KITS.md / TASK_MAP.md → INDEX.md.
The installation commands for each AI assistant are as follows:
- Gemini CLI:
gemini skills install https://github.com/linhay/harmony-next.skills --path harmony-next --scope user - Claude Code:
npx skills add linhay/harmony-next.skills --skill harmony-next -a claude-code -g -y --copy - Codex:
npx skills add linhay/harmony-next.skills --skill harmony-next -a codex -g -y --copy - DSH:
dsh plugin --profile demo add github:linhay/harmony-next.skills
Compatible installation paths include:npx skills add linhay/harmony-next.skills --list、$HOME/.agents/skills/harmony-next、DSH_SOURCE=/path/to/harmony-next.skills、.dsh/skills/harmony-next、dsh-harmony-next.
The API 26 declaration snapshot can be regenerated from a newer version of DevEco Studio.
Applicable Scenarios
Suitable for scenarios involving the use of AI coding assistants for HarmonyOS NEXT application development, including querying API declarations, writing ArkTS/ArkUI code, using the NDK, operating DevEco Studio, performing emulator automation, debugging, and releasing, etc. Also suitable for development environments that require offline reference materials.
Limitations
- DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses the filesystem skill; this bundle does not install MCP, tools, or apps.
- This repository is not yet a Codex plugin.
- Private interface workflows must first read the corresponding private interface documentation, and clearly define the artifact directory, desensitization boundaries, and non-interactive mode.
- The documentation sources are Huawei HarmonyOS official materials, and the copyright belongs to the original authors.
- The project uses the MIT license.
