About this tool

Audax Data Manager (formerly PgManage) is a modern open-source SQL editor and graphical database management tool launched by Command Prompt, with the slogan "The database manager that stays out of your way."

In terms of purpose, it is aimed at developers and database administrators who need to manage multiple relational databases at the same time, providing a unified graphical interface to complete daily database management, query writing, and data editing work without switching between multiple dedicated clients.

Its main capabilities include: support for PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, Oracle, and SQLite3; an intuitive interface that emphasizes not interfering with user operations; support for theme switching and UI scaling; privacy first, with no data collection and no telemetry, and credentials stored in encrypted form; the ability to view database performance metrics; the ability to manage roles and extensions; the ability to tune PostgreSQL server parameters; support for connecting to target environments through SSH tunnels; the ability to work with multiple database workspaces at the same time; edit data in a familiar spreadsheet-like way; quickly locate database objects through fuzzy search; shortcut keys and keyboard navigation for core functions; schema- and context-aware suggestions for tables, views, columns, aliases, and functions while typing; add query error annotations at the exact location where the problem occurs; copy table data as Markdown, JSON, or CSV format.

In terms of usage, the official website provides multiple installation and deployment methods: pgmanage-1.5.AppImage, pgmanage-1.5_setup_win64.exe, pgmanage-1.5_mac_x64.dmg installers, AWS Marketplace, and the Audax Data Manager Docker Image. There is also an Enterprise Edition, and an enterprise license can be purchased.

Highlights of the Audax Data Manager 1.5 version update include: the schema editor now supports Oracle; added support for renaming indexes in MySQL, MariaDB, SQLite3, and MS SQL Server; added support for updating column comments in Postgres, MySQL, and MariaDB; improved keyboard navigation, with support in the database explorer for Page-Up, Page-Down, Home, End, and arrow keys, the ability to open the context menu with the keyboard "Context Menu" key in the data editor, query tabs, snippets, and database explorer, and shortcut key support for copy/paste and clear operations in the data grid; the data editor can now copy and paste cell ranges like mainstream spreadsheet editors, and cells with long or complex content can be edited not only inline but also in a dedicated modal window; in terms of user experience, the data editor and ERD tabs support full-screen mode, the app sidebar adds quick access to theme and font size settings, query history no longer deduplicates when the same command is executed multiple times in succession, and a new "unsaved data" warning is added when the user tries to close a workspace or tab; in terms of backup/restore, support has been added for multiple versions of pg_dump/pg_restore binaries, and the backup/restore function will try to select the version matching the Postgres server being backed up. The full release notes can be viewed on Github.

The applicable scenarios are mainly daily SQL query writing, database object management, data table editing, performance monitoring, role and extension management, PostgreSQL server tuning, and secure connections through SSH tunnels, among other database operations and development tasks.

Regarding the charging model, the official page only mentions that an Enterprise Edition is provided and that an enterprise license can be purchased. Other specific pricing, feature differences, and limitations are not yet provided.
