Findsight AI is a search engine for nonfiction content, and its official introduction states that it can help users explore and compare the core ideas of thousands of nonfiction works. The tool organizes searches based on "claims"—that is, the key points put forward by a source—through which users can discover and compare claims from different sources, observe how authors address the same issue, and build their own learning path by navigating to related claims. Users can also find links to the original books or articles. This approach is called "syntopical reading."
Main Capabilities
Findsight provides basic and AI-powered filters to refine search results.
Basic filters include:
- mention filter: Similar to Google's text matching, it finds sources based on literal text. The official description notes that this is suitable as a starting point but may lack precision; for example, searching for "running" will return results about exercise, running a business, and state-run systems.
- references filter: After entering a word, select from suggestions. Suggestions marked with "W" link to Wikipedia; others are named entities—that is, concepts referenced across sources, and they have been categorized for differentiation. Users can add multiple entities and use a dropdown menu to choose whether matching sources must contain one of them or all of them. Clearing the input and entering something else can find new suggestions.
- discuss filter: Similar to the references filter, but aimed at topics—that is, specific tags associated with sources. Topics are displayed below each result title as an expandable list.
In the mention filter input box and the search input boxes for the discuss and references filters, users can use prefixes (asterisk) and OR alternatives, for example, dus* OR wash* will find both dusting and washrooms.
AI-powered filters include:
- state filter: Also used for the Random button and the explore arrow (→), it allows users to enter a custom claim and find related claims, suitable for references.
- answer filter: Finds related claims for the question entered by the user, providing context and data to help answer it.
Official note: With AI filters, users can run 50 searches per day; removing the AI filters allows more searches.
How to Use
Users can add one or more filters below the search box and then click Find. They can also directly click the Random button to explore random claims and related sources. Clicking the title allows users to view more context around the highlighted claim, and using the → arrow allows exploring more related claims. The official site also provides a search guide for users who need help.
Use Cases
Findsight is suitable for scenarios that require exploring and comparing the core ideas of nonfiction works, conducting topical reading, finding references, or answering specific questions. Users can build their own learning journey through claim navigation and link to the original books or articles.
Limitations
Using AI filters has a limit of 50 searches per day. Regarding the tool's pricing, platform support, or other feature details, the official text does not yet provide information.
