cc-audit

AI coding

cc-audit is a tool for checking whether a CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md file complies with 12 baseline rules for AI coding agents. It is implemented as a single Python file, with no external dependencies and about 240 lines of code. The tool can detect missing baseline rules (such as token budget, visible failures, precise edits, convention over novelty, etc.), leaked secrets (GitHub PAT, AWS keys, API keys, plaintext passwords), a missing "project-specific" section, and crossing the 200-line compliance cliff. The output includes a compliance score, a list of missing rules, and any leaked-secret flags, with exit codes of 0 (pass), 1 (warn), or 2 (fail), and it supports a --json option for machine-readable results. In addition, it can be used as a GitHub Action to generate a compliance report for each PR. According to a scan of 492 public CLAUDE.md files, the median compliance score was 3/12, no file received a perfect score, no leaked production secrets were found, and the most commonly missed rule was "do not edit out of bounds" (98% non-compliance). cc-audit is used in pair with claude-code-pro-pack, from which the rules are derived.
