Recently there's a project that has everyone really excited, called Flipbook。
The entire browser interface is full of pixels generated in real time by AI. Enter a word, click anywhere on the page, and a new image will be generated. You can keep clicking and keep generating.
Even Simon Willison,Datasette founder, Karpathy and other big names in the tech world reposted it, saying "this thing is pretty interesting."
After reading this, do you think it's really interesting? Sister Orange played with it at home for a whole day during May Day. Let's take a look at what it's all about.
What is Flipbook?
Flipbook is an experimental AI infinite visual browser. Its core is to use AI to generate pixel streams in real time to replace HTML/CSS/webpages, turning the entire internet into an AI picture album that can be flipped through infinitely.
The product team's three founders are former OpenAI, former Apple, and former Slack engineers. In less than a day, hundreds of thousands of people were discussing it.
Official website:https://flipbook.page/
You can enter any word in the search box, or upload an image, and then everything generated and seen on the entire page is all pixels.
Then wherever you click, a new image will be generated there and continue onward.
For example, if you enter "Paris," it will generate a panoramic image of Paris. Then click the Eiffel Tower, and it will generate a close-up image of the tower.

Keep clicking, and it will keep going deeper all the way.
The technology behind it uses LTX Studio(open-source DiT video model) running on Modal Labs' GPU servers, pushing a 1080p 24-frame video stream directly to the browser via WebSocket.
Unlike traditional browsers that render webpages through code such as HTML and CSS, Flipbook has no fixed code structure or predefined layout.
Its information accuracy is roughly comparable to mainstream AI chat models such as ChatGPT and Gemini, and there may be occasional inaccuracies or rendering flaws.
I played with it for a day during May Day, and by the way, I've put together the most complete set of use scenarios for everyone.
Five Practical Scenarios
01 Travel planning.
The official team puts travel planning first. It is the most direct scenario in which you can experience the product's value.
This May Day I wanted to go to Sanya but didn't make it, so I tried traveling there in the cloud. I entered "7 days in Sanya," and in about 20 seconds, it generated a complete Sanya itinerary image. On it were the route for the day, attraction locations, and a map. It was like a carefully made travel brochure.
Then I clicked on the Nanshan Guanyin attraction, and it generated a close-up rendering of Nanshan Guanyin, a route map, and recommended foods.
If I continued clicking on the food, it would further introduce the food.
Compared with traditional travel guides, this is way more interesting. A traditional guide is like a PPT slide that you can only look at but not interact with. Flipbook is a living map that you can click around and explore freely, and every corner can be clicked.
02 Food Exploration。
This scenario is a usage I found quite impressive after testing it myself.
In Flipbook, I searched for "Chengdu snacks," and it generated a food map including mapo tofu, dan dan noodles, chili peppers, and more. I clicked on the chili pepper area, and it generated close-ups of Sichuan peppercorns and chili peppers, including introductions to Sichuan peppercorns and chili peppers and how to make them.
I then clicked on the ice jelly area and continued deeper into the ingredients it contains, as well as an introduction and explanation for each ingredient.
It can be even more specific. For example, let's try "Cantonese morning tea," and it generated a table of dim sum, including shrimp dumplings, shumai, barbecue pork buns, and surprisingly even the distinctive tea-pouring gesture.
I tapped on the gesture area, and it generated specific gesture diagrams for drinking tea and pouring tea, with an introduction to each gesture and its usage scenarios.
It feels so lifelike~~
I feel it's especially suitable when you're going on a business trip somewhere tomorrow and want to quickly learn what local foods are good and what special etiquette there is. No need to jump back and forth between Dianping and Xiaohongshu; everything is in one visual image you can tap endlessly.
03 Product Research。
This scenario can be used to research some fields we haven't touched, or things we've heard of but haven't seen or don't understand.
For example, I entered "how a nuclear reactor works," and Flipbook generated a panoramic view of a nuclear power plant, as well as an anatomy diagram of the working principle, clearly labeling each product description.
Then tap on a certain object, and it will continue to generate in-depth introductions, internal structure analysis, and how it specifically works. It looks vivid and visual, as if you had been there in person.
It can also be used in a more down-to-earth way, such as searching for how to make a certain food, entering "how to make sourdough bread."
Flipbook generated a complete flow chart from starter cultivation to the baked finished product.
I tapped on the starter cultivation step, and Flipbook generated the process of sourdough starter formation, including what the states look like at different stages, an explanation of the bubble structure, and it also marked the optimal time, mixing ratios, temperature and humidity, etc.
You can also see the internal structure of the final perfect sourdough bread, what the ideal air holes look like, what under-fermentation and over-fermentation look like...
It's much more interesting than reading any recipe book.
04 Learning Knowledge。
The biggest sigh in this scenario is that kids today are truly fortunate.
I entered "animal world," and it generated an overview including all animals on land, in the ocean, swimming in water, flying in the sky, and running on the ground. Tapping further continues to drill down.
It's like a cloud-based reading pen. In the future, there will be no need to buy paper books for home anymore. If later optimization adds sound effects playback and voice narration, it will definitely become a hit~
Not only can children use it to learn knowledge, adults can too, such as for some historical events.
I entered "French Revolution," and it generatedthe Bastille, and a guillotine. Tapping any scene at random continued to generate a detailed explanation of the scene, along with key figures and event nodes.
You can't help but keep drilling down. The unique thing about Flipbook is that you don't know how deep you'll drill, but as long as you keep drilling, there's always content to catch you.
Chinese rendering still has some issues overall.
05 Creative Exploration and Entertainment.
The biggest feeling from using Flipbook is that it's so creative.
It's also very suitable for designers and creators when they lack inspiration: open Flipbook and enter whatever you want, and see what AI can generate.
Some content may hallucinate, but that doesn't prevent it from serving as a source of inspiration, providing you with visual brainstorming, while you inject the soul.
Some Takeaways
Flipbook is still only an experimental product right now. It's a bit slow and has AI hallucinations, but it points to a very interesting and highly innovative direction.
The interface paradigms we take for granted today—text boxes, buttons, forms—the infrastructure built over twenty years, Flipbook skips directly past. The future interaction interface may not need an interface at all.
In the AI era, any product can be as rich and flexible as the real world. We do not need to adapt to the logic of the tool; instead, the tool should adapt to our way of thinking.
I believe that as models become more precise and more stateful, this approach will be able to handle more and more things. Today, when we use Flipbook for travel planning, we still need to jump to another app to book tickets and hotels, but in the future it may be possible to complete the entire process within Flipbook.
When a new paradigm shift appears and occurs, those who see it first have an advantage。
