On April 18, 2024, an AI content verification solutions startup headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Verify announced it has raised €1 million in seed funding. The investors in this round include serial entrepreneurs Niels Bouwman and Chris Hall, as well as Google.
The company plans to use the raised funds to hire AI developers and data scientists, and plans to expand in Europe and the United States through a network of channel partners.
Verify was founded in 2022 by Hugo Smits, a former technology leader at Nintendo. The company's main business is developing AI content detection algorithms that can embed invisible "fingerprints" in images and videos to ensure their authenticity. In addition, through its AI monitoring service, Verify enables digital media files to be tracked online, a technology widely used to combat fake news, copyright infringement, and to distinguish between human-generated and AI-generated content.
