Advanced Unity MCP is a public repository tool released by Code Maestro (www.code-maestro.com), designed to control the Unity Editor through AI and natural language commands. Users do not need to click through menus layer by layer or manually configure GameObjects; they only need to describe the desired effect to an AI assistant, and the relevant operations are executed automatically.
Main capabilities include:
- Core editor control: play/pause/stop the game, execute menu items, read/clear console messages.
- Asset and scene management: create/modify/delete materials, prefabs, and scripts, and manage scenes and GameObjects.
- Build and platform tools: build settings, platform switching, Android Debug Bridge operations.
- Project configuration: Unity packages, project settings, PlayerPrefs, external tools.
- Performance profiling: control the Unity Profiler and identify performance bottlenecks.
Typical command examples include "check whether the console has errors," "create a script named PlayerMovement that supports WASD control," "switch the build target to iOS," "add a Rigidbody component to the selected object," "create a new material with metallic properties," "save the current GameObject as a prefab," "clear all console messages and check for warnings," and so on.
Usage is divided into two steps: installation and connection. First, install the package for the corresponding Unity version through Unity Package Manager's "Add package from git URL" (the materials mention that it is applicable to Unity 2020-2022). Then open Code Maestro > MCP Dashboard in Unity to connect.
There are two connection modes:
- Direct connection (for the Code Maestro desktop app): the Unity Editor connects directly to the central hub of the Code Maestro desktop app, which is faster and does not require a separate relay server. Unity MCP Connector runs inside the Unity Editor to manage the connection.
- Relay server connection (for other clients): for clients such as VS Code and Cursor, the bridge uses a local TCP server and a relay server. Bridge Server runs inside the Unity Editor and provides API access through a local TCP port; Relay Server is a small background process responsible for communication between the AI client and the Unity Bridge Server, and is installed automatically.
Supported MCP clients include the Code Maestro desktop app (using direct connection), GitHub Copilot (VS Code), and any other MCP-capable copilot. Except for the Code Maestro desktop app, other clients use a relay server connection, and this server is installed automatically.
Setup is automatic; you only need to select the connection mode in the dashboard. Tip: when multiple Unity projects are open at the same time, the AI assistant will automatically connect to the most recently opened Unity Editor instance.
More details regarding fees, pricing, platform restrictions, and so on are not provided in the materials.
