About this tool

Transcribe to Text is an online AI transcription tool used to convert speech in audio and video into reviewable, editable transcripts. After users upload a supported audio or video file, they can view processing progress in the browser and, once transcription is complete, enter the workspace to proofread and export.

Purpose This tool is aimed at scenarios that require converting recordings or videos into text, including meeting transcription, interview transcription, podcast transcription, lecture transcription, video transcription, and customer call transcription. The transcription results can serve as a basis for decision records, quotation material, show notes, subtitle sources, or content repurposing.

Main capabilities

  • Audio and video transcription: Supports audio to text and video to text, with AI generating a structured draft with timestamps, which can include speaker labels when enabled.
  • Language coverage: Supports speech transcription in 99 languages, allowing selection of a known language or use of automatic detection; English offers recognition options such as General, Australia, United Kingdom, and United States.
  • Pre-transcription guidance: Allows setting the spoken language, enabling speaker recognition, and adding context or key terms to improve recognition of names and specialized vocabulary.
  • Review workspace: Provides a low-confidence review queue where corresponding segments can be played, the segment content edited, marked as reviewed, and speakers renamed.
  • Revisions and export: Corrections are saved as new revisions, and the latest transcript can be exported as TXT, Markdown, SRT, or VTT.
  • File support: Supports AAC, AVI, FLAC, M4A, MKV, MOV, MP3, MP4, MPEG/MPG, OGG, OPUS, WAV, and WebM, with a maximum file size of 5 GB, and requires the filename extension to match the media content type.
  • File processing: Files are uploaded directly to private user-level storage; source media is retained for up to seven days after task creation for review, and can also be deleted immediately; after deletion or expiration, transcripts, saved edits, history, and exported files remain available, but the source media can no longer be played.

How to use

  1. Upload a supported audio or video file and track progress in the browser.
  2. Before transcription, select the spoken language or automatic detection, set speaker recognition, and add context or key terms.
  3. Start transcription, and AI generates a structured draft with timestamps and speaker labels (if enabled).
  4. In the review queue, play matching segments, edit low-confidence phrases, mark them as reviewed, and rename speakers.
  5. Save corrections as a new revision and export the latest transcript as TXT, Markdown, SRT or VTT.

Use cases

  • Meetings: Generate written references, record decisions, project background, and follow-ups.
  • Interviews: Facilitate reviewing, quoting, comparing, and organizing interviewee responses.
  • Podcasts: Support show notes, episode archiving, accessibility work, and content reuse.
  • Lectures: Provide students and educators with text references for courses, webinars, and training recordings.
  • Videos: Turn conversations into source text for scripts, editing notes, subtitles, and content review.
  • Customer calls: Help sales, support, and research teams review issues, feedback, and conversation context.

Limitations and notes

  • Transcription quality is affected by audio clarity, microphone quality, background noise, accents, specialized terminology, and overlapping speech; low-confidence queues are used to assist review, and confidence does not constitute a guarantee of accuracy.
  • Processing time depends on recording length, media format, and audio complexity. The workbench displays task status, but does not promise a fixed completion time.
  • Source media is available for playback review for up to seven days after task creation only; after deletion or expiration, it can no longer be played.
  • Credit rules: After registration, you receive 10 one-time credits, and 1 credit equals 1 minute of transcription usage; paid plans and credit packs can increase capacity, and purchased credits do not expire. Monthly plans add 600 credits per month (10 hours), and annual plans issue 7200 credits in advance each year (120 hours). Annual credits can all be used immediately.
  • Specific prices, plan names, and more billing details are not yet provided.
