The Beijing Institute for General Artificial Intelligence (BIGAI) is a non-profit new-type research and development institution supported by the Beijing Municipal Government and the Ministry of Science and Technology, with collaborative support from advantageous institutions such as Peking University and Tsinghua University. It was founded in 2020 by Professor Zhu Songchun, a globally renowned expert in computer vision, statistician and applied mathematician, and artificial intelligence expert, who also serves as its president.
The institute's goal is to realize general intelligent agents with autonomous perception, cognition, decision-making, learning, execution, and social collaboration capabilities, and that conform to human emotions, ethics, and moral concepts.
