About this tool

devpulse-mcp is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for AI coding assistants, designed to solve the problem of AI lacking context about the local development environment when debugging. When developers use tools such as Claude Code or Cursor for debugging, the AI usually does not know whether the development server is running, which errors have appeared in the logs, or which Git branch is currently checked out, causing developers to repeatedly manually copy and paste the same context. devpulse-mcp provides a real-time diagnostic snapshot with a single tool call, allowing the AI to directly obtain this information.

The main capabilities include three tools: get_session_snapshot is used to obtain a complete diagnostic snapshot and is recommended to be called first; get_recent_errors is used to extract recent errors from log files and automatically redacts sensitive information; get_running_services is used to view services running on development ports as well as missing services. The tool supports automatically detecting the framework from package.json, currently supporting Next.js, Vite, Express, and FastAPI, with more frameworks coming soon.

In terms of usage, devpulse-mcp emphasizes zero configuration: no API key, no account, and no configuration file are required. It can be used with MCP-compatible clients such as Cursor, Claude Desktop, and Windsurf. All processing runs entirely on the local machine, data never leaves the user's computer, and API keys and secrets in log output are automatically stripped.

The applicable scenarios are mainly local development debugging, especially when an AI assistant needs to quickly understand the current development environment status, troubleshoot errors, or confirm service operation. In terms of limitations, the currently supported frameworks are limited, covering only Next.js, Vite, Express, and FastAPI; other feature details, installation commands, specific configuration steps, and platform compatibility are not provided for now.
