About this tool

Rett fra Bonden is Norway's discovery layer for local food, designed to make local food producers such as farms, farm shops, REKO rings, farmers' markets and cooperatives discoverable by AI agents and humans. The project positions itself as "not an app, not an online store, but infrastructure—the DNS of food agents."

[Main capabilities]

  • Indexes 1,371+ producers, covering 374+ Norwegian municipalities.
  • Supports search in Norwegian and English.
  • Supports location-based filtering (latitude/longitude + radius).
  • Value-based matching, no ads, no paid ranking.
  • Provides an A2A v1.0.0-compatible interface (JSON-RPC 2.0 + Agent Card).
  • The remote MCP endpoint /mcp exposes four tools and two resources; the full specification is in openapi.yaml.

[How to use]

  • Using from Claude.ai: connect the remote MCP; the MCP server URL is https://rettfrabonden.com/mcp,传输方式为 Streamable HTTP (MCP protocol 2025-06-18), no authentication required, the server is publicly accessible. After connecting you can ask questions such as "Finn økologiske grønnsaker nær Oslo som leverer hjem" or "Which dairy farms in Rogaland sell raw milk directly to consumers?".
  • Using from Claude Desktop (MCP stdio): for local installation, you can use the lokal-mcp npm package.
  • Using from ChatGPT: in developer mode, add https://rettfrabonden.com/mcp as the MCP server URL; for a custom GPT, create Actions pointing to https://rettfrabonden.com/openapi.yaml ; for instructions see custom-gpt-instructions.md.
  • Using from your own agent: A2A / REST invocation is supported.

[Technical architecture]

  • TypeScript + Express, deployed on Fly.io.
  • SQLite (WAL mode), persistent volume storage.
  • MCP 2025-06-18, supporting Streamable HTTP (remote) and stdio (local).
  • A2A v1.0.0 compatible (JSON-RPC 2.0 + Agent Card).

[Use cases]

  • Help users discover Norwegian local food producers, such as finding organic vegetables near Oslo that offer delivery, dairy farms in Rogaland that sell raw milk directly to consumers, or comparing three honey producers in Innlandet.
  • Let AI agents connect to local food data for conversational queries, geographic search and producer matching.
  • Producers can claim existing entries, update information and respond to buyer inquiries.

[Limitations and notes]

  • Accents matter when searching: it is recommended to use økologisk rather than okologisk for the best relevance; lokal_discover accepts latitude/longitude + radius and can replace free text to broaden the scope.
  • Public endpoint rate limits: 150 searches and 300 general API calls are allowed per 15-minute window; MCP tools/call counts toward the search bucket; when exceeded, back off for 15 minutes; the server only rate-limits and does not block IPs.
  • Browser-side MCP clients must send the Origin header; the server whitelist includes https://claude.ai、https://www.claude.ai、https://chatgpt.com and https://chat.openai.com。
  • When using tools/list, you must first send a correct initialize request and include the Mcp-Session-Id response header; the session ID is fixed per connection, and subsequent calls must include that header.
  • The claiming agent must be verified by email; the verification code comes from kontakt@rettfrabonden.com, and the token is valid for 24 hours; if the dashboard is empty, check spam.
  • If the connector cannot reach the server, confirm that it points to https://rettfrabonden.com/mcp(HTTPS,无尾随斜杠);stdio clients should switch to the lokal-mcp npm package.
  • If you encounter problems, you can submit the request payload (redacted) and response status code to GitHub Issues.
