Purpose: resharper-cli-mcp is an MCP server that connects JetBrains' ReSharper command-line tool (jb) to coding agents for IDE-free C# code inspection and code cleanup. It is unofficial and not affiliated with JetBrains.
Main capabilities: resharper_inspect runs jb inspectcode and returns issues, grouped by file into Markdown, with detail reducible according to the client's output budget; resharper_cleanup runs jb cleanupcode, by default using the cleanup profile specified by SilentCleanupProfile in the solution settings, otherwise Built-in: Full Cleanup, and reports the files that were modified. jb reads the solution's .DotSettings and .editorconfig, so that agents follow the same severity levels and code style as the IDE. The server warms the cache when a client connects, queues runs serially, reports progress every ten seconds, and each run is limited by RESHARPER_MCP_TIMEOUT_SECS (default 10 minutes).
Usage: requires the .NET 10 SDK and JetBrains ReSharper Command Line Tools (free, no ReSharper license required), both installed as .NET global tools. Register the parameterless command resharper-cli-mcp with the MCP client; the server uses the sole .sln or .slnx in the working directory, and if there is none or more than one, specify it via JB_SOLUTION_PATH. It can also be installed as a Claude Code plugin or Claude Desktop extension.
Use cases: suitable for letting coding agents inspect and clean up C# solutions in an IDE-free environment; within Rider, mainly use resharper_cleanup, because Rider's own analysis already provides inspection results.
Limitations: every run analyzes the entire solution, and the first run needs to build the cache and usually takes several minutes; the files parameter only narrows the scope of the report, not the scope of the analysis. The server has no telemetry and makes no network calls, and logs and reports remain on the local machine. Other details are not yet provided.
