ConnectOnion is a command-line toolset (CLI harness) for AI agents, with the core philosophy of "CLI is all you need". Through a unified command-line tool co, it enables AI agents to access the accounts and tools they need for their work, including Gmail, Outlook, logged-in browsers, local files, chat apps, and other agents.
Main Capabilities
- Unified command-line interface: All tools are accessed through the
cocommand, and agents can discover each tool's functionality on demand via--help. - Identity and memory: Manage agent identity and memory.
- Email, calendar, and notes: Support email services such as Gmail and Outlook, as well as calendar and note features.
- Browser and files: Can operate logged-in browsers and local files.
- Issues and feedback: Integrate issue tracking and feedback tools such as Linear and Canny.
- Agents and servers: Support interaction with other agents and servers.
- MCP integration: Plans to place MCP servers under the same command line (
co mcp, coming soon).
How to Use
Installation: Install co and complete setup with a single command, including agent identity, an OpenOnion key with startup credits, and a skill and command index that tells Codex and Claude Code about co . Installation uses uv(installed automatically if needed) to avoid polluting the system Python.
Connect tools: After installation, you can connect Google, browsers, chat apps, and project settings.
Use in Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor: No need to install anything into these tools; simply ask the coding agent to "use co to check my Outlook inbox", and it will read co commands and co outlook --help before executing.co skills link can also link ConnectOnion's skills to Claude Code and Codex.
co rem — Decentralized Context Flow
co rem connects context from emails and coding sessions into local, linked Markdown pages. People, projects, skills, and decisions remain connected to their sources, making it easy to trace evidence and reuse context. Context is stored on the local machine (~/.co/rem), and agents can read it. Daily scheduling currently requires macOS.
Use Cases
- Scenarios where AI agents need access to multiple external tools and accounts.
- Users who want to consolidate and locally manage scattered context (emails, coding sessions).
- Developers using coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor.
- Developers who want to build custom agents based on the same framework (ConnectOnion is also a Python framework).
Limitations
- The daily scheduling feature currently only supports macOS.
- The
co mcpfeature has not yet been released (coming soon). - Source content selected during investigation is sent to the configured model, so source control and cost need attention.
- Access from other devices requires opening the online Host via
co rem open --live, and is limited to the Host owner.
Other Information
- Stable version 1.9.2 is available via
pip install connectonionInstallation, preview versions require opting in. - License: Apache-2.0.
