About this tool

Purpose

APIMatic Validator MCP Server is used to validate OpenAPI specifications. It validates OpenAPI files through APIMatic's API and returns a validation summary, helping developers check whether API description files conform to the specification.

Main Capabilities

  • Validate OpenAPI 2.0 and 3.0 files.
  • Use APIMatic's API for comprehensive validation.
  • Support both JSON and YAML formats.
  • Implement Model Context Protocol (MCP) for easy integration with MCP-compatible clients.

Usage

  1. Make sure Node.js v18+ is installed.
  2. Clone the repository.
  3. Install dependencies.
  4. Build the project.
  5. Register with APIMatic and obtain an API key (required to use the server).
  6. Integrate with Claude Desktop: modify the claude_desktop_config.json file to add the MCP server; if the file does not exist, create it in the specified location.
  7. After configuration is complete, a hammer icon should appear in Claude Desktop; open it to verify whether the validate-openapi-using-apimatic tool has been successfully integrated.
  8. Add an OpenAPI file, provide a prompt for validation, and then the validation result is returned.

Applicable Scenarios

Suitable for developers who need to validate OpenAPI specifications, especially when using MCP-compatible clients such as Claude Desktop, allowing OpenAPI files to be validated quickly.

Limitations

Usage requires an APIMatic API key. Other limitations are not provided at this time.
