dochost-mcp is the official MCP server for dochost, whose goal is to publish Markdown or HTML generated by AI assistants directly as shareable web page links, saving the trouble of taking screenshots or sending raw .md files.
Purpose When an LLM produces reports, READMEs, or HTML artifacts, dochost turns them into normal web pages with their own URLs through a single tool call, with both Markdown and HTML rendered in real time.
Main capabilities The server provides six tools:
- publish: Publishes Markdown or HTML as a hosted page and returns a shareable URL, along with url, slug, expiresAt, and editToken.
- update_page: Replaces page content in place; the URL, view/like counts, and expiration time are preserved, and only body, format, and title change. It should be preferred when revising already-published content, to avoid a second publish creating a new link and invalidating the old link in readers' hands; repeatedly sending identical content is a no-op.
- list_my_pages: Lists published pages in newest-first order, supports pagination (limit, offset), and returns compact records that do not include page bodies.
- get_page: Queries a single page by slug, returning the title, format, status, view/like counts, expiration time, and whether it is password-protected, without returning the body or password.
- get_account: Returns the plan, page quota usage, and entitlement flags (size limit, custom slug, password, branding). It is recommended to call this before publishing to learn the limits in advance.
- delete_page: Permanently deletes a page by slug; the link becomes invalid immediately and the slug is released; deleting an already-deleted page is a safe no-op. Ownership and entitlements come from the authenticated account, not from tool input.
How to use Claude Code can be installed with a one-line command, then run /mcp inside Claude Code and approve in the browser; adding --scope user makes it available in all projects. Clients such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, and Windsurf can add a remote HTTP server, authorize once in the browser via OAuth, and the assistant then publishes as you, with output following the entitlements of the dochost plan. The MCP server address is https://dochost.io/mcp,端点为 https://dochost.io/api/mcp(Streamable HTTP, OAuth). For clients or directory evaluators that require a local stdio process, the repository includes a bridge that connects to the same hosted MCP endpoint, and it can also run in Docker. Node.js 22 or higher is required. The bridge forwards live tools and schemas, and is not a self-hosted copy of the dochost application. Initialization and tool discovery are public; interactive clients can use OAuth, while headless tool execution requires an existing DOCHOST_API_KEY runtime key (Docker: docker run --rm -i -e DOCHOST_API_KEY dochost-mcp). Headless agents (OpenClaw, Hermes) use API key authentication: create one at dochost.io → Settings → API keys, export it as DOCHOST_API_KEY, and then you can install the skill (skills/dochost-publish/, suitable for any agent that can make HTTP requests) or point MCP at https://dochost.io/api/mcp and carry the key in the Bearer header (examples/mcporter.config.json). For installation guides for each host, see clients/openclaw.md and clients/hermes.md; for a one-off shell publishing example, see examples/publish.sh. API keys should be stored like secrets as environment variables or host secrets, and must never be committed; if leaked, they can be revoked or rotated in Settings → API keys.
Use cases Suitable for users who need to quickly turn AI-generated reports, READMEs, and HTML artifacts into shareable web pages, and for scenarios where they want the assistant to continuously maintain an already published page rather than generating a new link for every revision.
Limitations Published pages are hosted on dochost.co, which is an independent cookie-free content origin, not the app origin dochost.io; dochost.io/d/… will permanently redirect to dochost.co/d/…, and old links will continue to work. Free links are valid for 7 days; permanent links, passwords, custom slugs, custom subdomains, and removal of branding are part of paid plans, see dochost.io for details. The project is under the MIT license.
