Claudinho is an independent open-source fan project for viewing live football scores, fixtures, and standings in the terminal, AI coding assistant status bars, and MCP clients. It supports 13 competitions including the World Cup, Premier League, La Liga, and Champions League, with no API key or registration required. The 104 World Cup fixtures are built in, while fixtures for other competitions are read from data sources. The project is not affiliated with FIFA, any federation, league, club, or Anthropic, and only displays factual match data (scores, fixtures, standings) and uses emoji flags, with no logos, kits, broadcast footage, or player likenesses.
Main capabilities:
- Live scores, fixtures, standings, knockout brackets, match details (goals and red/yellow cards).
- Prediction market signals: a read-only "who is favored" line showing market-implied percentages, sourced from Polymarket, shown only when a reliable market exists, for reference only, and not betting advice. Can be disabled with --no-markets or CLAUDINHO_MARKETS=off.
- Shareable cards: claudinho share can generate plain-text match cards, standings cards, or knockout bracket cards, with support for copying to the clipboard.
- Multilingual support: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, with optional localized commentary styles (such as ¡GOOOOL!), adjustable via --flavor subtle|off.
- Status bar integration: Claude Code and Cursor CLI status bars can display live scores inline, reading from a local micro-cache without blocking on the network.
- Score-aware hook (Claude Code): the UserPromptSubmit hook injects live scores into the model context during matches, with zero token usage outside of matches.
- MCP server: provides 10 read-only tools (get_today, get_live, get_match, get_next_fixture, get_standings, get_bracket, get_market_signal, get_share_snippet, get_team, list_competitions) as well as my_team / tournament_today prompts.
Usage:
- Run via npx, no installation required.
- Choose competitions to follow: claudinho follow premier-league, and pin a team: claudinho follow premier-league --team Arsenal.
- Initialize Claude Code: claudinho init claude; initialize Cursor: claudinho init cursor.
- Other MCP clients (Codex, Claude Desktop, Windsurf, Zed, VS Code) use standard stdio configuration.
- CLI commands include: today, live, next, table, match <id>, bracket, markets, share, team, etc., all supporting --json and --tz.
Use cases:
- Quickly view match information in the terminal or an AI coding assistant status bar.
- Get live scores in AI conversations via MCP.
- Generate shareable match cards for group chats.
Limitations:
- A network connection is required for live data (built-in World Cup data can be used offline).
- Prediction market signals are for reference only and are not betting advice.
- Some terminals (such as Warp) may not display flag emojis correctly; the tool automatically detects this and falls back to three-letter codes.
- Planned desktop notifications and AI commentator features have not yet been released.
- Data sources: live scores come from the ESPN public scoreboard, and market signals come from Polymarket public data.
