AxionQuant MCP Server is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for the AxionQuant financial data API, with the goal of enabling Claude, ChatGPT, and other LLM applications and AI agents to access real-time and historical financial data through natural language, rather than relying on outdated training data.
Purpose The server wraps AxionQuant's financial data API as MCP tools, enabling LLMs to directly answer natural language financial questions, such as stock quotes, cryptocurrency prices, SEC filings, earnings call transcripts, economic indicators, and more. It is suitable for scenarios that need to connect real-time market data to AI conversations or agent workflows.
Main Capabilities The server provides more than 100 tools, covering the following data categories:
- Stocks: real-time quotes and historical price data for U.S. and global stocks.
- Cryptocurrency: cryptocurrency pricing and market data.
- Forex: foreign exchange rates and currency pair data.
- Futures: futures contract pricing and market data.
- Indices: market index pricing and constituent data.
- ETFs: ETF holdings, exposure, and fund metrics.
- Economic Data (FRED): macroeconomic datasets and calendar events from FRED.
- News: market news headlines by company, country, or category.
- Sentiment: social, news, and analyst sentiment scores.

How to Use
- Obtain an AxionQuant API Key (official instructions state it can be obtained for free).

- Configure the MCP client. Taking Claude Desktop as an example, add the corresponding configuration in the configuration file:
- macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
- Windows: %APPDATA%/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
- The server uses stdio transport and is compatible with any client that supports MCP. Set the API_KEY environment variable and configure it according to the client documentation.
Example Queries After connecting the LLM, you can ask natural language questions, such as:
- "What are the NASDAQ-listed stock tickers?"
- "Get Bitcoin's price history for the last 30 days"
- "What are SPY's top 10 holdings?"
- "Show me Apple's credit rating"

Use Cases Suitable for users who need to connect real-time financial data to LLM conversations, AI agents, or automated analysis workflows, such as financial research, investment analysis, market monitoring, and more.
Limitations and Notes
- An AxionQuant API Key is required to use it.
- A Node.js v18+ environment is required.
- If the tools do not appear in the LLM client, restart the client and check whether the configuration file path is correct and is an absolute path.
- If API requests fail, check whether API_KEY is set correctly and review the server logs.
- If the server cannot start, confirm that Node.js v18+ is installed and that the package has been installed via npm i @axionquant/mcp.
- For specific information such as fees and pricing, the sourcematerial does not currently provide it.
