imagcon-mcp is an MCP server running as a local stdio process, wrapping the Imagcon API so that AI assistants can generate PWA icon sets and iOS splash screens without opening the website. It does not rely on a hosted service and has no persistent connection.
Purpose: generate source images with AI from text descriptions, and produce directly deployable icon assets; it can also generate icons and splash screens based on existing local images or already saved images.
Main capabilities: generate_image (AI generates a source image, returns image_key and a preview URL); save_image, list_saved_images (save and list source images); create_icons_from_key, install_pwa_pack, generate_pwa_icons (generate a PWA install package, returns html_head and a signed ZIP URL, which local stdio can extract to output_dir); create_pwa_icons_from_image (generate from local PNG/JPEG/WebP, skipping AI generation); list_saved_icon_sets, download_icon_set, get_icon_set_download_url (manage saved icon sets); generate_splash_screens, create_splash_screens_from_image, create_splash_screens_from_key, download_splash_screens, get_splash_screen_download_url (generate and manage iOS splash screens); get_credit_balance (check remaining credits); setup_wallet_profile (activate a permanent account after x402 pay-per-use, requires a wallet address, the profile token in X-Imagcon-Token, a name, terms_confirmed, and a wallet signature in the specified format).
Usage: requires Python 3.11–3.12, uv (provides uvx), and an API key starting with ic_live_ obtained from imagcon.app/api-keys. The package is self-hosted and noton PyPI, and must be installed directly from the wheel. Supports MCP clients such as Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code, Cline, Zed, Warp, Continue.dev, using an equivalent stdio configuration; the configuration file locations for each client are listed at imagcon.app/.well-known/blueprint.txt. All requests are sent only to https://imagcon.app。
Limitations: AI generation and icon/splash screen set exports consume credits; creating from existing images or an image_key can skip AI generation credits, but exports are still billed; when the key is missing, the process errors out and exits; other base URLs are not supported.
During the generation flow, it is recommended to first show the user a preview and confirm before generating icons. The splash screens of install_pwa_pack are an additional charge and default to false; output_dir defaults to ./; do not pass ./public/icons to avoid nesting.
