FileDue is a product for freelancers to deliver files, and its core purpose is to keep files locked until the client pays, avoiding the passive situation of "sending the file first, then chasing payment." Officially, it is positioned as a single-link paid delivery method: upload a file, set a price, share a link, and after the client sees the file and price and pays via Stripe, the file is automatically unlocked for download.
In terms of main capabilities, FileDue uses a payment-gating mechanism, where files can only be downloaded after payment is completed, and cannot be obtained if unpaid. Payments are based on Stripe Connect, funds go directly into the user's own Stripe account, and FileDue charges a fixed 2% fee, and only charges when a link is paid; the first 3 paid links are free, with no subscription model. The platform supports choosing an EU or US data storage region per link, and files are stored in regional R2 buckets. Customers do not need to register any account to pay and download. Each delivery link can carry up to 5GB and 500 files, and supports any file type, such as PSD, ZIP, video, PDF, source code, etc. After payment, files are retained for 30 days for download, after which they are automatically removed. Each link also provides a preview URL, making it easy for users to see in advance the actual experience on the client side.
In terms of usage, users need to first connect or create a Stripe account, then upload files, set a price, and generate a link, and send that link to the client. The client opens the link, sees the files and price, completes payment with a bank card, and the files are instantly unlocked. Each link corresponds to only one client and cannot be reused; if multiple clients need to be served, multiple delivery links can be created.
Applicable scenarios cover freelancers who need to deliver files and wait for payment, including designers, developers, writers, photographers, video editors, translators, etc. Typical deliverables include logos and brand kits, design files, source code and project files, articles and copy, manuscripts and documents, retouched image libraries and original files, ZIP archives, final cuts and source materials, translated documents and subtitle files, etc.
Limitations and notes: a Stripe account must be set up before use; the platform's 2% fee is non-refundable on completed payments, and refunds must be handled by the user and the client themselves through Stripe; if the client never pays, the files will not be unlocked; files are automatically removed 30 days after payment; the file size limit is 5GB per delivery, with a maximum of 500 files. Regarding more compliance details on whether specific regions are supported, invoice formats, or other integrations, official materials are not yet available.
