SkimIt.ai is an AI article summarization tool built around email as its core interaction method. Its main purpose is to help users quickly get the key points of long or interesting articles without having to read the full text.
Main capabilities:
- AI-generated article summaries: After sending an article link by email, the system generates a summary and replies to the sender's inbox.
- Email-only interaction: No account registration, download, or app installation required.
- Sharing feature: When sending an article link, cc a friend, and they will receive the original article and the summary generated by SkimIt.ai.
- Processing time: According to official information, summaries are usually received in about 10 minutes, and sometimes this may extend to 15 minutes.
How to use:
- When you come across an interesting article in your browser, use the share function or copy the article link.
- Send the article link as the first URL in the body of an email to go@SkimIt.ai. The subject line, other content, and email signature do not affect processing.
- Wait about 10 minutes, then check your inbox (and spam folder) for the AI-generated summary.
Use cases:
- When you see an interesting article but do not have time to read it in full.
- When you want to quickly get the key points of an article for personal reference or entertainment.
- When you want to share an article with a friend and also provide a summary.
Limitations and notes:
- The official statement says this is a hackathon entertainment project, generative AI may make mistakes, it is not responsible for generated content, and it is recommended to use it for entertainment purposes only.
- AI processing is powered by OpenAI's GPT technology.
- Each request retains the sender's email address, cc addresses, and the first URL in the email body; other email content sent to the go@skimIt.ai processor is not retained.
- If you encounter problems, you can contact tldrtool@gmail.com.
- The project was developed by Karthik and Alex, both founders with exits, who enjoy building and scaling startups, advising and investing in founders, and drinking a lot of coffee.
