About this tool

Purpose

multichain-mcp is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server whose goal is to let AI agents interact directly with multiple blockchains. It packages access to three chains—Stacks (Bitcoin L2), Celo, and Base—into a single npm package, avoiding the need to write separate integration code for each chain. It is officially positioned as "the only MCP server that gives AI agents native access to Stacks, Celo, and Base."

Main capabilities

The package provides 5 battle-tested tools covering the following operations:

  • Read balances and prices
  • View portfolios (with support for full multi-chain portfolios)
  • Prepare transfers
  • Deploy tokens

All write operations return unsigned transactions, and users always sign with their own wallets, so it is non-custodial by design. Basic use requires no RPC keys.

How to use

Two integration paths are officially provided:

  1. Claude Desktop: add the configuration in claude_desktop_config.json. If the env block is not filled in, it runs on the Free tier; after adding keys, Claude Desktop must be restarted.
  2. Cursor / Windsurf: add the configuration in .cursor/mcp.json or .windsurf/mcp.json.

Programmatic use is also supported. It is officially stated that connecting Claude Desktop, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible AI to 3 blockchains can be done in 5 minutes.

Use cases

Suitable for developers who need to let AI agents interact with Web3, especially projects that want to cover multi-chain scenarios across Stacks, Celo, and Base with a single integration while keeping users in control of their private keys (non-custodial). It can be used for tasks such as querying wallet balances, viewing multi-chain asset portfolios, preparing transfer transactions, and deploying tokens.

Limitations and information not yet provided

  • All write operations only return unsigned transactions; actual signing and broadcasting must be done by the user's wallet.
  • Basic use requires no API key, but the configuration mentions a Free tier and keys; specific pricing, costs, and differences between tiers are not yet provided.
  • The supported chains are explicitly Stacks, Celo, and Base; other chains are not yet provided.
  • The specific installation commands, complete configuration examples, and code content are not fully given in the materials and are not yet provided.
