About this tool

Toreador MCP Server is Toreador's official Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, used to let MCP-enabled AI assistants (such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, ChatGPT, etc.) generate cryptocurrency payment QR codes and manage payment sessions.

Purpose

The server is designed to integrate Toreador's crypto payment capabilities into MCP clients, enabling assistants to generate non-custodial cryptocurrency payment QR codes on behalf of users and manage payment sessions.

Main Capabilities

  • Generate cryptocurrency payment QR codes, supporting BTC, ETH, SOL, USDC, USDT, EURC.
  • Manage payment sessions, including creating sessions and querying session status.
  • Register 5 Toreador tools for MCP clients to call.
  • Return QR code data URIs, which most clients can render inline.

Usage

Installation Requirements

A Pro plan API key (format tdr_...) is required from the Toreador dashboard. The MCP server runs locally and uses this key to call https://toreador.io/api/v1/public。

Install in Claude Desktop

Edit the Claude Desktop configuration file: macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json Windows: %APPDATA%/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json Linux: ~/.config/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json Add a toreador entry under mcpServers. After restarting Claude Desktop, the tools menu should show 5 Toreador tools.

Install in Cursor

Paste the configuration in Cursor Settings → MCP → "Add new MCP server".

Build from Source

After the server starts, it will print [toreador-mcp] ready (5 tools registered) to stderr and wait for MCP requests on stdin.

Example Prompts

After installation, you can use the following prompts in an MCP client:

  • "Generate a Bitcoin QR code for 0.001 BTC to bc1qxy2kgdygjrsqtzq2n0yrf2493p83kkfjhx0wlh."
  • "Create a USDC payment session for 50 USDC on Polygon to 0x742d35Cc6634C0532925a3b844Bc9e7595f2bD18."
  • "What's the status of session ses_123?"
  • "Show me my last 10 payment sessions." The assistant will select the appropriate tool, call Toreador, and return the result (including the QR code data URI).

Use Cases

Suitable for users who need to quickly generate cryptocurrency payment QR codes or manage payment sessions in an AI assistant, such as developers, merchants, or individuals who need to receive cryptocurrency payments.

Trust and Security

  • Local operation: MCP The server runs on the user's machine via stdio. The API key does not leave the user's computer except for outbound HTTPS calls to toreador.io.
  • Non-custodial: Toreador never holds funds. The MCP tools only generate QR codes and read session status, and cannot move funds.
  • Read-only or create-only, no destructive operations: The tools only generate new payment objects or read existing objects; there are no "delete" or "refund" tools.

Limitations

  • Requires a Pro plan API key, which must be obtained from the Toreador dashboard.
  • The supported cryptocurrency types are as listed in the materials (BTC, ETH, SOL, USDC, USDT, EURC); other currencies are not currently available.
  • Does not hold funds and cannot perform transfers, refunds, or deletions.
  • More details such as pricing and platform availability are not currently provided.
