About this tool

Purpose

AI Toolbox (formerly ChatGPT Toolbox) is a Chrome browser extension whose goal is to solve the problems of cluttered AI chat histories, difficulty searching them, and the inability to save them long-term. It adds unified organization, search, prompt, and export tools to the four mainstream AI conversation platforms ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Grok, letting users manage cross-platform conversation history in one place.

Main Capabilities

Folder organization: Any conversation can be added to a folder, with support for unlimited levels of nested subfolders. Frequently used conversations can be pinned, and the ChatGPT sidebar stays organized as history grows.

Cross-platform search: A single search checks ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Grok at the same time, with results grouped by AI; clicking jumps to the exact conversation on the corresponding platform. It supports full-text search, filtering by role/date/exact match, and can be invoked on any page via a keyboard shortcut (such as Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+Period). The search index runs locally on the device, is off by default, and must be manually enabled by the user.

Prompt library and chained execution: After saving prompt templates, typing // in the input box calls them up with one click. Up to 10 prompts can be linked into a chain (the Gemini module supports up to 25 steps), running automatically in order, with each step waiting for the previous reply; content is filled in at runtime via {{placeholders}}. A public prompt library containing 100+ expert prompts is also provided.

Export and backup: Conversations can be exported as TXT (free), Markdown (with YAML frontmatter, compatible with Obsidian), JSON, or PDF. Multi-select batch export to ZIP is supported, as are batch delete and archive.

Other features: Smart tags automatically categorize conversations by keyword; message bookmarks support color labels and notes, with one-click jump back; context references (@@) can bring historical conversations into a new prompt as context; audio reading supports 9 voices and batch MP3 download; an image gallery centrally manages generated images; real-time writing statistics show character, word, and sentence counts, while the paid version adds tokens, reading/speaking time, and platform limit warnings; a usage dashboard displays message counts, usage duration, streak days, and rate limit status.

How to Use

  1. Install with one click from the Chrome Web Store; it supports Chrome, Edge, Brave, and other Chromium browsers, with no account or setup required.
  2. Open ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or Grok, and the toolbox automatically appears in the sidebar.
  3. Use folders to organize conversations, save prompts, and export important answers.

Suitable Scenarios

It is suitable for users who frequently use multiple AI chat tools, have large conversation histories, need cross-platform search, or want to save important answers long-term as documents, and also for advanced users who need to reuse prompt templates and build automated prompt workflows.

Limitations

Conversation content is stored locally in the user's browser and is not permanently saved on servers; only user-created content such as folders, prompts, and tags is encrypted and synced to servers, while smart tags run locally. The free version is limited to 2 folders, 2 saved prompts, 5 search results per query, and 2 bookmarks, and supports only single-conversation TXT export. Paid plans include Premium monthly, Premium lifetime ($99, ChatGPT only), and All Access lifetime (covering the four platforms), and offer a 14-day refund window. The team plan starts at $12/seat/month (billed annually, minimum 2 seats). GDPR compliant.
