About this tool

Stable Fast 3D (SF3D for short) is a 3D generation model released by Stability AI, whose core capability is to quickly generate high-quality 3D assets from a single image. According to the official introduction, its generation time is about 0.5 seconds, a speed that stands out among similar 3D reconstruction solutions.

In terms of main capabilities, SF3D can generate 3D assets in about 0.5 seconds on a GPU equipped with 7GB of VRAM, and the output includes a mesh with detailed UV unwrapping as well as accurate material parameters. This technology is built on TripoSR and has undergone significant architectural improvements. The official description states that it is suitable for a variety of scenarios such as games, VR, e-commerce, and architectural visualization.

In terms of usage, users can upload an image through the official demo and observe the process of it being converted into a 3D asset; if the demo does not load, it can be accessed directly on Hugging Face. For enterprise-level integration, SF3D provides a REST API: first obtain an API key from Stability AI, then send a POST request to the endpoint, and you will receive a 3D asset in GLB format. Each successful generation consumes 2 credits, and failed generations are not charged.

In terms of input formats, SF3D accepts JPEG, PNG, and WebP images. Each side of the input image must be at least 64 pixels, and the total number of pixels must be between 4,096 and 4,194,304. The texture resolution determines the level of detail of the albedo (color) and normal maps, and can be 512, 1024 (default), or 2048 pixels; higher resolutions provide more detail, but the asset size is larger. The output is a binary data block containing a glTF asset, namely the JSON, buffers, and images in the GLB file format.

In terms of licensing, Stable Fast 3D is released under the Stability AI Community License, which allows non-commercial use, as well as commercial use by organizations with annual revenue not exceeding 1 million USD; organizations with annual revenue exceeding 1 million USD need to contact them to obtain an enterprise license.

The official description also compares it with alternatives such as Google's DreamFusion, OpenAI's Point-E, and NVIDIA's Magic3D, pointing out that these solutions use different 3D generation paths (such as text-to-3D, point cloud generation, etc.), while SF3D stands out for its extremely fast speed of 0.5 seconds and the quality of single-image output, making it suitable for production workflows.

In terms of resources and links, the official provides the model code and implementation, model weights and demo, complete API reference, and channels for getting help and feedback.
