About this tool

Airemover is an image metadata removal tool designed for privacy-focused sharing scenarios, running in the browser without requiring image uploads. Its core purpose is to help users remove metadata that may leak personal information from files before sharing photos, while keeping the image pixel content unchanged.

Purpose The tool is used to remove metadata from photos, including EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP, and AI-related metadata. It is suitable for users who want to clean up information such as location, device, time, author, edit history, and AI-generated markers before publishing or sharing images.

Main capabilities

  • Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC.
  • Batch processing: up to 100 images can be processed simultaneously.
  • Removed content: EXIF (camera model, lens, software, timestamps), GPS (latitude and longitude of the shooting location), IPTC and XMP (author, description, keywords, edit history), AI metadata (C2PA / Content Credentials, IPTC DigitalSourceType, Stable Diffusion / ComfyUI generation parameters). In Full clean mode, thumbnails and ICC profiles are also removed.
  • Two cleaning modes: Full clean removes all supported metadata blocks; AI-only mode clears only AI source markers such as C2PA and Content Credentials, preserving camera EXIF and GPS.
  • Result report: displays a metadata report before download, listing removed, retained, and unsupported metadata, so users clearly know what changed.
  • Image quality preservation: metadata changes do not recompress image pixels, and the original image content remains unchanged.
  • Privacy protection: all processing is done locally in the browser, and files are not uploaded, stored, or logged. Users can verify through the developer tools network panel that no image data leaves the page.

How to use

  1. Select one or more JPEG, PNG, WebP, or HEIC images.
  2. Review the cleaning mode and metadata report.
  3. Adjust naming, metadata, or location settings only if needed.
  4. Download the cleaned copy. The original file is not modified.

Use cases

  • Before sharing photos on social media, forums, or public platforms, remove private information such as location and device.
  • When AI-generated markers (such as C2PA, Content Credentials) need to be removed but camera EXIF and GPS should be retainedscenarios.
  • Batch processing metadata cleanup for multiple images.
  • For users with high privacy requirements who do not want images uploaded to a server.

Limitations

  • Pixel-level watermarks (such as Google SynthID) exist in the image pixels themselves, are not metadata, and cannot be removed by this tool. The tool will indicate whether an image carries AI markers, but cannot remove this type of watermark.
  • The tool only processes metadata and does not change image content.
  • Free to use, no account required; batch limit is 100 images.
  • Some features (such as saving profiles and locations across devices) require login, but the materials do not provide specific account system details.
  • Video metadata removal is a separate tool; this tool is mainly for images.
