About this tool

PaperChat is an AI-powered document chat platform designed to help users quickly process long documents in a conversational way. After users upload files, they can ask the AI questions to complete reading, understanding, summarizing, and searching within seconds, without having to flip through page by page.

Main capabilities:

  • AI chat with documents, supporting simultaneous search across multiple documents and online chat without downloading.
  • Supports multiple file types: PDF, DOC, PPT, TXT, Markdown; CSV, XLS, and EPUB are marked as coming soon.
  • Each answer provides source citations for easy verification against the original text.
  • Supports exporting conversation content.
  • Supports more than 40 languages (the FAQ mentions more than 20, including English, German, Romanian, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Dutch, etc.).
  • Uses Stripe to process payments, uses encryption protocols to protect uploaded documents, and hosts servers in secure data centers.

How to use: After registering for a free account, upload files and ask questions directly, with no engineering support or complex setup required. You can search multiple PDFs at once, or chat with PDFs online without downloading.

Use cases:

  • Schools and institutions: extract and understand data from coursework.
  • Researchers: assist with article research and understand complex concepts.
  • Legal: optimize legal document analysis and quickly obtain insights and text citations.
  • Customer support: provide rapid support insights.
  • Real estate: accelerate analysis of real estate contracts and market data.

Pricing and limits:

  • Free plan: supports .pdf, .txt, and .md files; 7 documents per month; 35 pages per PDF; file size limit 32MB; unlimited conversations; priority support.
  • Paid plan: $14.99/month; 30 documents per month; 200 pages per PDF; file size limit 128MB.
  • After canceling a subscription, the account can still use premium features until the end of the subscription period, after which it switches to the free plan.

Limitations:

  • Integration with third-party applications is currently not supported.
  • Currently mainly supports PDF, and other document types are being integrated (the official page also lists support for DOC, PPT, TXT, and Markdown, while the FAQ says only PDF is currently supported, so there is inconsistent information).
  • The free plan has limits on the number of documents, pages, and file size.
