Purpose
evmscope is an EVM blockchain intelligence toolkit designed for AI agents. AI such as Claude and GPT cannot access real-time blockchain data—when you ask "What is the ETH price?" or "Show this wallet's balance," you will usually get the reply "I cannot access real-time data." evmscope gives AI agents direct access to 26 on-chain tools via the MCP protocol, including token prices, wallet balances, DeFi yields, whale tracking, honeypot detection, and more. No API keys, no configuration, connect and use.
Main Capabilities
The tools cover the following areas:
- Prices and markets: Get current token prices, 24-hour change, market cap, and volume.
- Gas fees: Get slow/normal/fast gas prices and USD estimates, and compare gas fees across all 7 EVM chains, sorted from lowest to highest cost.
- Accounts and balances: Get native token + ERC-20 token balances and USD value; get a full wallet portfolio (including native token and ERC-20 balances and USD value); get ERC-20 token metadata (name, symbol, decimals, total supply).
- ENS: Resolve ENS names to addresses and reverse resolution (Ethereum mainnet only).
- Transactions: Get transaction status, receipt, confirmations, and gas usage; decode transactions into structured JSON (function name, parameters, event logs); simulate transactions via eth_call + estimateGas, returning USD gas estimates and revert reasons on failure; get a wallet's recent ERC-20 token transfer history.
- Contracts and events: Query verified contract ABIs (Etherscan → Sourcify fallback); get contract event logs with automatic ABI decoding.
- Address identification: Identify whether an address is an exchange, DeFi protocol, whale wallet, or EOA.
- Approvals and holdings: Check ERC-20 token approval (allowance) status, automatically check major DeFi protocols and give a risk-level assessment; get the top token holders (Ethereum uses Ethplorer, other chains aggregate from Etherscan transfer records).
- TVL and yields: Get DeFi protocol TVL via DefiLlama (including chain breakdown, 24 hour/7-day change); get DeFi yields (APY), filterable by protocol, chain, and minimum TVL.
- Whale tracking: Track large token transfers (whale movements), classifying exchange deposit/withdrawal direction.
- Swaps and cross-chain: Get DEX swap quotes via ParaSwap (optimal route, gas cost, automatic ETH→WETH conversion); get cross-chain bridge routes via LI.FI, comparing fees, time, and output amount.
- Security detection: Detect honeypot (scam) tokens via Honeypot.is, returning buy/sell tax, risk level, and flags.
- NFTs: Get a wallet's ERC-721 NFT balance and token list; get metadata for a specific NFT token (name, image, attributes).
- Governance and blocks: Get governance proposals from Snapshot (active, closed, or all); get block details by block number or latest (timestamp, gas, transactions, validator).
Usage
CLI Mode
Run npx evmscope --help to view all 22 commands. Add --json to output raw JSON.
MCP Server Mode
Run without arguments to start the MCP server.
Add to claude_desktop_config.json:
(see the project documentation for configuration)
Add to .cursor/mcp.json:
(For configuration, see the project documentation)
Supported chains
Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Avalanche, BSC.
Environment variables (optional)
All environment variables are optional. evmscope runs without any configuration.
Key features
- 26 tools: Price, gas compare, swap quote, yield rates, honeypot detection, bridge routes, tx simulation, event logs, token holders, approval status, TVL, whale tracking, balance, token info, ENS, tx status, tx decode, ABI lookup, address ID, NFT info, NFT metadata, governance proposals, block info, token transfers, portfolio.
- 7 EVM chains: Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Avalanche, BSC.
- 49 built-in tokens: ETH, USDC, USDT, WETH, LINK, UNI, AAVE, ARB, OP, PEPE, etc.
- 30+ labeled addresses: exchanges, DeFi protocols, cross-chain bridges, whale wallets.
- Zero configuration: no API keys required, works out of the box based on free public APIs.
- Read-only: does not execute transactions, zero risk of fund loss.
- Dual mode: CLI for direct terminal use, MCP server for AI agent integration.

Limitations
- Read-only mode, does not execute any transactions.
- Some tools have limited data sources or chain coverage (e.g., ENS is limited to Ethereum mainnet; token holder queries use Ethplorer on Ethereum, and aggregate from Etherscan transfers on other chains).
- Specific pricing, fees, or additional usage terms are not yet provided.
