About this tool

manim-mcp-server is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server whose core purpose is to execute Manim animation code and return the generated video. Users can send it Manim scripts and receive the rendered animations.

Main capabilities

  • Execute Manim Python scripts.
  • Save animation output to a visible media folder.
  • Allow users to clean up temporary files after execution.
  • Portable configuration via environment variables.

How to use Prerequisites: Make sure Manim (Community Edition) is installed. First, clone the repository.

Integration with Claude: To integrate the Manim MCP server with Claude, add the corresponding configuration in the claude_desktop_config.json file. Doing so ensures that Claude can communicate with the Manim MCP server, thereby dynamically generating animations.

Find the Python path: Use the following command to find the path to your Python executable.

How to contribute

  • Fork the repository.
  • Create a new branch: git checkout -b add-feature
  • Make changes and commit: git commit -m " Added a new feature "

Acknowledgments Thanks to Manim Community for the excellent animation library. Inspired by the open-source MCP ecosystem.

Use cases and limitations This server is suitable for scenarios that require dynamically generating Manim animations through an MCP client (such as Claude), especially automated rendering of mathematics and educational animations. Before use, Manim Community Edition must be installed, and the Python path and client configuration file must be correctly configured. Forspecific configuration code, installation command details, and platform support information, the materials do not provide them completely, so they are not provided for now.
