Visual Field Test

Visual Field Test is an online visual field testing tool that lets users complete a visual field exam at home in about 5 minutes per eye. It supports blind spot mapping and peripheral visual field tracking, provides color-coded maps (blue dots for seen, orange dots for missed), a score, test duration, and a reaction consistency check, and generates a plain-language AI summary. It offers two modes, Simple and Advanced; Advanced mode can perform threshold testing and provide metrics such as mean deviation (MD) and pattern standard deviation (PSD). Results are saved automatically, can be charted as trends, compared side by side, exported as PDF reports, and safely shared in read-only mode with a doctor or family member. It supports 30 languages and can also be used for monocular or binocular full-field testing.

About this tool

Visual Field Test is an online visual field testing tool designed to let users complete a visual field exam at home. According to the official introduction, each eye takes about 5 minutes to complete a test.

Purpose: To map the blind spot, track changes in the peripheral visual field over time, and generate a plain-language AI summary that can be shared with an ophthalmologist. The official description clearly states that this tool is not a diagnosis and cannot replace a professional eye exam.

Main capabilities:

  • Results are presented as color-coded maps: blue dots indicate locations that were seen, and orange dots indicate locations that were missed.
  • Instantly obtain a score, test duration, and reaction consistency check.
  • Generate a plain-language AI summary describing the user's responses.
  • Support monocular testing or binocular full-field testing.
  • Provide Advanced mode: perform threshold testing, measure the sensitivity of each point (in decibels), and provide detailed metrics such as the overall score, mean deviation (MD), and pattern standard deviation (PSD).
  • Support side-by-side comparison of any test results: arrange from oldest to newest, highlight points that recovered in retesting and new missed points, and calculate the overall change.
  • Automatically save each result and plot visual field consistency trend charts for each eye, with weekly, monthly, and yearly trend views.
  • Download printable PDF reports, including threshold maps, grayscale maps, total deviation, probability maps, and global indices; export a single test or a complete comparison report.
  • Support secure sharing: invite a doctor or family member to view history in read-only mode, keep results private, and allow users to permanently delete any test at any time.

How to use:

  • Test each eye separately, fully covering one eye to obtain accurate results.
  • A fixation cross appears in the center of the screen, and you must keep looking at that cross throughout the test.
  • Small light points appear randomly around the screen; when you see a flash, press the spacebar or click anywhere on the screen. You must click even if the light point is faint, and you do not need to click on the light point itself.
  • You can choose Simple mode (quick screening) or Advanced mode (detailed threshold testing).
  • The test language and AI analysis support 30 languages.

Use cases:

  • Glaucoma and other eye diseases may gradually damage the peripheral visual field and often have no obvious symptoms; the brain fills in the gaps, making early vision loss hard to notice. Regular visual field screening can compare results over time and provide organized data for discussion with eye care professionals.
  • Users can share history with eye care professionals between visits.

Limitations:

  • The official description clearly states that this tool is not a diagnosis and cannot replace a professional eye exam.
  • Other specific limitations (such as device requirements, browser compatibility, and pricing) are not yet provided.
