Purpose
Italy Transfers is used to compare real-time transport prices between cities in Italy, covering four travel modes: trains, buses, ferries, and private transfers. The project provides both a frontend web application and an MCP server, making it convenient for users to query directly or through AI assistants such as Claude.
Main Capabilities
- Real-time price search: covers more than 71 Italian transport routes.
- Multilingual support: 7 languages in total—English, Italian, German, French, Spanish, Russian, and Portuguese.
- SEO optimization: supports static generation and incremental static regeneration.
- Mobile-responsive design: based on Tailwind CSS.
- MCP toolset: provides search_italy_transport (search real-time prices for routes), list_italy_routes (list all 71+ available routes), get_route_info (detailed price and time information), get_cheapest_travel_day (find the cheapest travel day).
Supported Routes
Covers cities such as Rome, Milan, Florence, Venice, Naples, Palermo, Genoa, Turin, Bologna, and Verona, as well as major airports such as FCO, MXP, VCE, BGY, and NAP, with more than 71 interconnected routes to popular destinations in total.
How to Use
The frontend is based on Next.js 14. After startup, it runs on http://localhost:3000。MCP The server connects to the production Italy Transfers API and can be integrated with Claude for real-time price searches. Tech stack: the frontend uses TypeScript, and the MCP uses Python; the frameworks are Next.js 14 and FastMCP; styling is Tailwind CSS; internationalization uses next-intl.
Use Cases
Suitable for users who need to plan intercity travel in Italy and compare prices across different transport modes, and also suitable for developers who want to integrate real-time transport price queries into AI workflows through the MCP server.
Limitations
The materials do not provide specific pricing, API call limits, data source provider details, or deployment requirements; this information is not currently available.
