VIMO (Vietnam Financial Intelligence) is a Vietnamese financial data and AI analytics platform accessed via the Model Context Protocol (MCP), hosted on GitHub (cuthongthai-vn/vimo-mcp-server) under the MIT license.
Purpose VIMO is designed to enable MCP-capable AI clients (such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, Cline) to directly query and analyze Vietnamese stock market data. Users can ask AI questions about Vietnamese stocks in natural language, with the MCP server providing the underlying data and tool support.
Main Capabilities
- Covers approximately 2,000 Vietnamese stocks, across markets including HOSE, HNX, UPCOM.
- Integrates over 50 data sources, including SBV (State Bank of Vietnam), GSO (General Statistics Office), SSI FastConnect, FMP, Yahoo, Binance.
- Provides real-time prices (via SSI FastConnect, with a 15-minute delay during trading hours).
- Fundamentals, signals, and AI picks updated daily (6:00 AM ICT).

How to Use
- Get an API key (free): visit vimo.cuthongthai.vn/finance/ai/api-docs, create a key and copy it. A demo key is also available: vimo_demo_public_readonly_2026 (rate-limited, VN30 only).
- Connect to Claude Desktop: add the configuration in ~/.claude/claude_desktop_config.json.
- Cursor: add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json.
- Windsurf / Cline: add to the MCP settings.
- Afterward, you can ask Claude questions about Vietnamese stocks.

Security and Limitations
- Requires an API key; the server refuses to start without a valid VIMO_API_KEY.
- Key format validation: must match vimo_[a-zA-Z0-9]{32+} or vimo_demo*.
- Request timeout of 30 seconds to prevent hanging connections.
- The server has 12 layers of protection (rate limiting, input sanitization, canary detection, etc.).
- Inputs are sanitized; stock tickers and categories are validated before being sent.
- The demo key is rate-limited and restricted to VN30 only.
