Use Cases
AdaMPI model is used to convert a single 2D image taken in the wild into a 3D photo. It was created by Pollinations, aiming to help users give depth to 2D images through machine learning. Potential users include photographers who want to add a new dimension to images, e-commerce businesses that need to showcase 3D visual effects of products, and game developers who need to convert 2D sketches into 3D models. Anyone who needs to convert 2D images to 3D can use AdaMPI.
Main Capabilities
AdaMPI is based on the PyTorch implementation of the SIGGRAPH 2022 paper "Single-View View Synthesis in the Wild with Learned Adaptive Multiplane Images" (authors Yuxuan Han, Ruicheng Wang, Jiaolong Yang). The model architecture includes two novel modules: for plane depth adjustment and depth-aware color prediction. These modules can adapt to diverse scene layouts and address the difficulty of generating high-dimensional MPI content. The model is hosted on Replicate.
How to Use
Using AdaMPI requires interacting directly with its codebase; if you do not want to write code, you can explore the demo provided by the model, which offers a user-friendly interface to experiment with model parameters.
Coding usage steps:
- Install the Node.js client: Install Replicate's Node.js client.
- Authentication: Copy the API token and set it as an environment variable for authentication.
- Run the model: Run the model code. You can also specify a webhook URL to be called when the prediction is complete.
Input and output:
- Input: Image file (Image), i.e., the 2D image to be converted into a 3D photo.
- Output: String (Output), which is a URI string pointing to the created 3D photo.
In addition, you can use AIModels.fyi to find similar image-to-image models. Steps: Visit AIModels.fyi, use the search bar to enter keywords (such as 'image-to-image'), then filter the results by type, cost, popularity, or specific creator.
Applicable Scenarios
- Photographers add a new dimension to images.
- E-commerce businesses provide 3D visual effects of products.
- Game developers convert 2D sketches into 3D models.
- Any scenario that requires converting 2D images to 3D.
Limitations
Like any AI model, AdaMPI has limitations. Complex scenes and fine 3D geometry may not convert perfectly to 3D, and the output quality depends largely on the quality and clarity of the input 2D image.
