DBine is a free desktop database management tool for Windows, macOS, and Linux, claiming to connect to 130 database engines and services, from SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle to MongoDB, Redis, Snowflake, and Elasticsearch, covering relational, analytical, document, key-value, graph, time-series, search, and streaming types. All engines share the same explorer, editor, and tools, and each engine comes with its own driver, with no need to install vendor client tools.
Main capabilities
- Real-time query profiling: right-click a database to view in real time, like SQL Server Profiler, every query executed against the database by any application, not limited to SQL Server; you can view time, duration, text, user, client, row count, and errors, and it supports filtering, sorting, and opening queries in the editor. If an engine requires enabling capture, DBine will enable it automatically and restore it afterward; on read-only connections it will not modify the server.
- Schema and data comparison: compare development and production environments, or SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases, side by side, showing differences in tables, columns, indexes, keys, views, procedures, functions, and triggers, and generating synchronization scripts; it supports choosing the migration direction item by item via arrows and allows undo, scripts are generated in the correct order, and warnings are given when data may be lost or failure may occur.
- Server monitoring: right-click a connection to view real-time CPU, memory, sessions, and server activity.
- AI assistant: a chat panel next to the editor can write, explain, or fix queries, and answer questions related to database structure. It will not run anything, and code is only added to the query for the user to decide whether to execute; it does not send data rows, only the engine, structure, and editor content. Supports built-in local models, Ollama, LM Studio, Claude Code, or Codex.
- MCP server: DBine can act as a local MCP server, allowing Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Claude Desktop, VS Code, or Windsurf to use connections while DBine is open, supporting any engine. Each connection can be set to one of four permission levels: none, schema only, read, or write, with schema only as the default; connections marked as prod and read-only will not exceed read. Each write requires user approval (or approval of all writes for a client) and shows the exact generationcode, reject if no response within two minutes. One revocable token per client, the server listens only on the local machine, and local logs record all invocations without passwords or secrets.
- Cross-engine migration: convert tables, types, keys, and indexes from one engine to another, with a report of each change and scripts usable by the target engine.
- Row-by-row synchronization: compare the rows of two tables (even across servers or engines), choose the direction for each difference, and review the script before running.
- Connection import: import connections from DBeaver, DbGate, DataGrip, Azure Data Studio, or SSMS, including passwords, within one minute.
- Settings synchronization: connections, queries, and preferences are synchronized with end-to-end encryption to the user's own Google Drive, OneDrive, or folder.
- Visual execution plans: provide Management Studio-style graphical plans, estimated or actual, for locating time consumption.
- ER diagrams and designer: support diagrams for hundreds of tables, a table designer for each engine, and a script generator for recovery.
- Query management: each database saves its own queries, automatically saved as you type.
- DBA scripts: save scripts by engine, with parameters populated from the tables of the active database.
- Export and import: support CSV, Excel, JSON, SQL, XML, etc. Export streams the complete query results rather than only what is displayed on screen.
- Private network access: access databases in private networks through SSH and bastion hosts, with fingerprint checks, and passwords stored in the system keychain.
Privacy and Security Passwords are kept in the system keychain, Credential Manager, or Secret Service, and are not written to files or logs. Synchronization uses the user's passphrase and is stored in the user's own account; the service provider has no related servers and does not touch the data. Connections can be marked as read-only, and DBine will block any non-read operations, making it suitable for production environments. Connections, queries, and results remain on the user's device; anonymous usage data does not include servers, queries, or results, and can be turned off at any time.
How to Use Download the installer for Windows, macOS, or Linux. After installation, you can import connections from the tools you currently use and manage all databases in one place.
Pricing and Source DBine is free, all features are included, and it states that it will remain free; users can voluntarily support the project through GitHub Sponsors, either as a one-time or monthly contribution. The code is hosted on GitHub.
Limitations and Notes The official materials do not provide a specific version number or system requirementsrequirements, hardware requirements for local models, MCP configuration steps, the complete list details of each engine, or details of features not mentioned; none of the above are currently provided.
