About this tool

Palmier Pro is a macOS video editor designed for AI workflows. Officially positioned as "the video editor built for AI," it is built from scratch in Swift, with the goal of referencing Premiere Pro's professional editing experience and adding AI and agent collaboration capabilities on top of that.

In terms of main capabilities, Palmier Pro provides Swift-native video editing features and includes built-in generative AI, allowing video and image generation using cutting-edge models such as Seedance, Kling, and Nano Banana Pro directly within the timeline editor. It also supports integration with agents, enabling connection to external agents such as Claude, Codex, and Cursor via MCP (Model Context Protocol), or using the in-app agent, allowing agents and users to co-create and edit on the same project.

In terms of usage, when the app is open, it will, at http://127.0.0.1:19789/mcp expose an MCP server over HTTP. There are two ways to connect: the simplest is to go to Help -> MCP Instructions -> Install in Cursor within the app, or manually add the configuration to ~/.cursor/mcp.json; for Claude Desktop, the app bundles an mcpb that enables one-click installation of the desktop extension, at Help -> MCP Instructions -> Install in Claude Desktop.

The applicable scenarios are users who edit video on macOS and want to invoke generative AI directly in the timeline to generate assets, or have AI agents participate in project editing through MCP.

In terms of limitations and licensing, Palmier Pro only supports macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later on Apple Silicon (M-series) chips. Regarding the licensing model, releases up to and including v0.7.6 and source code prior to last-gpl-source are released under GPLv3; subsequent binary releases are proprietary software, and their corresponding source code is no longer public and is subject to the binary license. This repository retains historical source code, hosts the current binary releases and update metadata, and no longer accepts code contributions; published source code can still be used, modified, and redistributed under GPLv3.
