borme-mcp is an MCP server for Spain's official company registry gazette BORME (Boletín Oficial del Registro Mercantil), used to access Spanish company registry event data in a structured way.
Purpose: This project organizes BORME's public information into an MCP service that can be called by AI tools, allowing users to query Spanish company registration and change events through natural language. The data covers more than 9.5 million classified events since 2009, updated every business day.
Main capabilities: The data includes company incorporations, director appointments, insolvencies, capital changes, and more, with a total of 52 event types, provided as English enums for programmatic filtering and understanding. The project provides the hosted endpoint mcp.bormeapi.com, which can be used without setting it up yourself; the hosted endpoint is free and read-only, returns at most 200 rows per query, and is backed by the complete 17-year corpus.
How to use: It can be used by connecting directly to the hosted endpoint, with no configuration required. If self-deploying, server.py is the complete server implementation, based on FastMCP and psycopg, and requires connecting to a Postgres database containing the BORME schema and with a read-only role. The repository also mentions that the dataset can be built yourself through the engineering instructions, and provides extension methods such as a REST API (including webhooks and watchlists) and an Apify actor (a pay-per-event data stream).
Use cases: Suitable for scenarios requiring queries of Spanish company registration information, such as finding companies that went insolvent in a specific region or time period, viewing a company's corporate history, or counting the number of newly incorporated companies in a region in a given month. Example prompts include "Which companies declared insolvency in Valencia last week?", "Show the corporate history of Telefónica Audiovisual Digital", and "How many companies were newly incorporated in Madrid in June?"
Limitations: The hosted endpoint is free and read-only, and returns at most 200 rows per query; self-deployment requires preparing a Postgres database containing the BORME schema and a read-only role. The server code is under the MIT license, and the underlying data comes from boe.es open data (public sector information, Ley 37/2007). Other details are not yet provided.
